Cool - they'll be in the support van then . I doubt they'll last that long, you do realise you're meant to keep the thing topped up, don't you Martin's 2 stroke oil was in the transit last year as well. ;D

Oh dear. we planned a wee bike run at the weekend. The GP and the GZ were faultless if a little slow. (If 50-60 is slow on a wee bike) on a trip around the Fife Coast. I followed in the car until Anstruther (stop for chips )
The CB100 did not do so well, I managed to kill it within a mile.
Started off OK, towing my fat arse at 45-50, heading for the garage to fill with petrol. Just before I got there it cut out. Would start with a kick but wouldn't idle and with a lot of vibration. Checking the genny cover we found a fair bit of oil leaking from the crankshaft seal. Shiiiiiiiiit. Worst case the bearing has disintegrated best case the seal is perished. Going by the vibes I guess the bearing is goosed.
Spare engine going in tomorrow. Hope it works and lasts longer than this one. Engine strip down will begin at the weekend, might be worth saving.
Holy sh*t those brakes are scary You need to give the bike written warning that you're stopping.

The brakes on my CB100n are unbelievably good, I did strip them and cleaned out all the corrosion, there is not much gap between piston and caliper, and they do seize easily Mine seized during the MOT, jammed on and front wheel wouldn't move. cleaned out and fixed but I reckon a new cable might help, this one might be stretched.
The whole point of the run this weekend was to highlight any issues, certainly did that. GP100 is a lot of fun if you keep the revs up but brakes on that are scary too. Eats fork seals due to fork pitting.
GZ will cruise through a C to C. GP100 will be OK if kept in 2stroke, CB needs major surgery. Glad I gave myself plenty of time.
I might be too heavy for this wee bike thing.

Time to admit defeat. Having blown up an engine on one and passed through a roundabout at 20mph with brakes fully utilised on another (they work for everyone else) I have to come to the conclusion the wee bikes are not suitable for my manly frame. I gave it a good go. So far I've bought 3 and killed 2. The wee bike run's a Great idea but probably not for me. I've had fun getting the bikes ready but a 100 with me on is bordering on the dangerous. Time to get sensible. Hope you all have a great run. Soon for Sale Suzuki GP100 and Honda CB100N.

You gonna' come along in a support vehicle role then? Lads still coming along ? Hadn't considered that, I have to confess I'm fairly gutted, more so than my aborted attempt of last year.
The GP with Davy on it would give most a run for their money and the GZ is very reliable if a little slow at 60mph.
I'm going to do the NC500 instead, on a suitable sized bike, Lads voted to accompany me. Though Allan is still restricted to a 125. NC500 on a 125, now that's different.

Er no, I was deadly serious, GZ 60mph on the flat or a little less if going up a steep hill and the GP when used properly can probably edge it.
Just as long as I'm not aboard. GP does about 50+ on the flat with me on board, just doesn't stop.
Just to be clear, these bikes have just passed MOT's so the brakes are not faulty, they just aren't man enough to stop me once I have a bit of momentum.

So your alternative plan is to do the NC500 on a 125 including descending the Pass Of Cattle into Applecross with effectively the same brakes!!! Whilst I admire your courage I would advise Skye of the possibility of a tsunami when you hit the water!!

I'll be on the 1250.
This does not mean I'll not fall off/end up in a ditch/breakdown. It will mean I don't need 2 stroke.

I spent Quite a while clearing the shed and buried but my fears that gambling quirky reliability, for Performance, using parts off my original Aprilia Rotax powered 125 , and upping the power more than double, for the later one that no doubt had been quite happily smoking about on a learner legal 14 BHP, for two decades wasn such a good idea. If nothing else it did bring out the milk (and a couple of cans of Coke) of human kindness. I set out austensibly to put the slightly newer Ape 125 back in the lockup and collect after the fettling,my electrically assisted mountain bike, left therein. however the thrill of seeing the Rev counter wiz around to the red ( I had it increased from 6/8000 before but that equated to about 60 MPH,),resulted in a chirrup from the rear tyre and a small skid before its momentum refired the engine. I thought it needed topping up with petrol so approaching an Asda did such. Then foolishly, instead of going to said lockup I continued toward Harwich only the thing stalled and skidded again. Got it restarted but gunning it thinking it may clear out any foreign bodies, in best Italian fashion, the bike went sideways, very nearly high sided , the tyre bit again and with the clutch lever in,came to rest aside the kerb. Considering my what best plan of action was and which insurance breakdown service was, a youngish chap apeared from a side turning, expressing his relief, he had heard the bike come down the road and the screech of tyre and half expected to see someone( me) laying in the road. I explained my relief to as to having an off recently, that over 40 years since the ones before, and the Good Samaritan suggested putting the Ape on his driveway as he had a supply of tools. He was in the process of fettling a 600 something KTM , so having put the battery on his charger, I thought I had given it enough charge, the previous eve, however the cover off the flywheel revealed two hex nuts holding the crude starter in situ behind the flywheel, to have worked lose, but still nothing. We lined the timing up to TDC and found the plug was sparking . The guy was pessimistic all suggesting symilar maladies on an RS 125 he had owned which was due to a seizure, however I cleaned the jets in the carb again and she fired up. Stupidly maybe mobile again, thinking everything was sorted my new quest was to have a blast along the bypass, following some food, only it conked out again going down the hill in Harwich, being mid afternoon I had had no sustinence except the cokes, which earlier had been part of the plan, and th distance travelled was less than that from the first Good Samaritan's home having thanked him profusely, than to my lockup, then after restarting it ,stalled at the lights and a chap got off his push bike, got his son to hold it and pushed my bike round the corner and despite doing so 3 or 4 times bump starting, it wouldn't keep going. We had arrived at the end of the road to the station by then, so again gratefully appreciated the second Samaritan's kind efforts, however the owner of a cafe on the corner said it was OK to leave it opposite, rang me a Cab, as my next intention was to pick up my Mondeo and bike trailer, and didn't have time in the interim to have more than a couple of bites of a pasty I bought before the Taxi arrived so back home had a coffee scoffed the remainder of the pastry, returned to my stricken Aprilia also with a better charged battery so was able to drive it up the ramp onto the trailer( and el Patron from the cafe steadied the bike whilst I secured it. Back at my lockup it restarted , I put the peddle bike on the trailer, and then when I returned a few days later the Rotax fired first turn but stalled after I turned the choke off prematurely and didn't want to know, so it's now right at the back, the earlier one squeezed in the shed alongside the Sach's 125 as maybe a project for next year. Also, after starting the little pit bike decided that too could go in the shed again, as last time before, it early shot me over the bars after the throttle stuck open, and I found the brakes very efficient at the end of this road, so have run out of bikes that qualify for the Tiddler C to C as no way have I confidence to either ride the Aprilia or Shineray with bored and stroked C70 Honda engine. The Skyteam Is restricted and struggles to go up to 110 KPH ( 60'ish) but is 250 so wouldn't qualify Anyways. In the fashion of Those BBC Dragons Den programs , I have to with regret, declare myself out 2.

ps well yer in the same way Wee Jimmy(Jeanette) Kranky or indeed Angus Young from AC/DC were convincing as school boys.
and he delighted in referring to my and another's blown Vivas!
ditto the first and last sentence in the final paragraph. Re mid one, My Ape might be about 10 short of a 100,(MPH) despite being an elligable 125, with excellent brakes just lost enthusiasm (confidence)to ride it any distance..

Wouldn't you be trailering it up there ? I considered a 250 and damn the consequences but that would be 4 bikes purchased to do one run. Pointless really.

Well yep but I was thinking more of the 160 mile each way runs back and forth from Scarborough ( not the 350 miles each way to Cumbria which even if I hadn't had the 125 Aprilia woes, despite temptation and maybe something I may have done without weighing up the pros and cons when younger, actually made me realise the folly of such, and had I left well alone having bought the thing last year to rob bits off for the older bike, to qualify it for the run, but other considerations meant for me it wasn't on.
Yes the Skyteam would romp it over the moors despite its limited top speed and no doubt be extremely economical but rules is Rules.

I would suggest rules are there to be bent, most of the bikes will be modified in some way. Well they would have been if I'd attended.
