Guys, i got a problem. With me being almost totally computer illiterate, i cant get my laptop to recognise my navigo, it keeps on doing that double "ding" sound ! ? (connects, then disconnects, i think) It will charge the navigo up, but ive been trying to convert it into the tom tom thingy and nothing seems to be talking to each other. My son has had a quick look, but still no good. Did any of you guys have the same problem ? Would anyone like to earn a few quid by getting it sorted on their computer so all i have to do is charge it on mine, if thats possible ? I'll cover all the postage cost n stuff and stick a few quid into the deal too. Ive got blank 2G and 4G memory cards if thats easier ? Regards, desperate Dave.

Dave, You need to get your computer access to the card (via the Navigo or use a SD Card Reader). Assuming you've got the original Navigo, when you switch on the unit via USB you get two options on the screen, the right option being access to the card (USB mass storage), then you should be able to do what you need to. However, you say you have a 4GB Card, I'm not sure if they support those being the SDHC format. But there will be a train spotter along shortly to help out further

WHOO WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ;D I'm using a 4GB card in my Navigo v1. Dave, If you want to send me your SD card I can wipe it and put on a copy of the one I use in my Navigo? If yes, send me a PM with your address and I'll reply with my address. Note: this only applies if you have the original Navigo. If you have the v2 Navigo then I think you need TomTom v7 - I think Reaper has a working instance. (The v1 Navigo runs TomTom v6).

The v2 Navigo certainly has no issues with SDHC cards (from what I remember reading), so that's not the issue.
What cable are you using to connect the Navigo to your PC? Do you have any other USB items connected to your PC? (Perhaps there's a power management issue? With the cable trying to do data AND charge the Navigo).
Ultimately you can setup your SD card via a USB-SD adapter. (If you don't have one they're cheap as chips to buy). You don't have to do it directly in the Navigo AFAIK.

The Navigo V2 will read and use 6gb SDHC cards I know for a fact as thats what I use in mine.
Installing TomTom V7 is not as straight forward as the V6 that has done the rounds.
It is possible to install and run just about any satnav mapping software including Igo8, TT7, Route 66, Miomap and Garmens software and mapping.
I am running TomTom V7.910(9185) with V825.2159 maps and can use TomTom Home to update the mapping corections that they offer.
But I will not offer any links or explain how to do this on site and I will delete any posts that do so DO NOT post any.
If members want to help each other I have no problem with that just do it by PM`s.
Shorty check yor PM box.

I pointed to information that contains info which may have helped, info in the forum is useful faqs and user problems also, not all of it is illegal and there is some info that could have been useful, thats why I pointed to trhe site and not directly to any info or downloads

In your post you said
"have a look here, you may get some more info

You posted a link to a site that has illegal downloads on it weather part or all is illegal it dosn`t matter as it still has illegal copies of copy write software, the forum granted does not have the software but is hosted on the site that does and so is not allowed and you know why you have to register and what that enables you to get, hence you saying that`s were you got your version 7 from.
Such links have and always will be deleted, we all agreed to the rules set by Pro boards weather or not we bother to read them.

Probably the same CPU. They usually say what's in it - the fact they aren't suggests v3 is the same hardware as v2.

Tip: Make sure you backup your most valuable TomTom Itenary files (.itn). Just found that a couple of mine including 1 I was planning on using tomorrow, have been corrupted.
Also found a great wad of *.chk files on the SD card, not sure where those have come from <geek mode> but if it was a PC it would be from a CHKDSK run </geek mode>.
Have checked contents of SD card with original install and it's all there, so don't know what happened.

Navitom update.
Been doing some work on a load of Navigos and Tomtom Riders this week and can confirm both the Navigos V1,V2 and the Tomtom Rider will run Tomtom V7.901 software and with that you can run the latest maps-
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_830_2307 Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_830_2306
which were released on 24/05/2009

Can anyone suggest a replacement cigarette lighter charger for the Navigo V1? The cable seems to be damaged and it's beyond my non existant soldering skills to repair.

You can always charge it through the USB port, which is what I do as I didn't have much joy with the standard DC charger. Tried and successful. The whole setup seems to run a lot more reliably using the USB, presumably my previous software problems were caused by intermittant power.

I think my love affair with the NaviTom might be over.
Loaded all the .itn files into Navigo for France. Opened each one up to make sure they were all ok. Got down to Northampton, the following morning - couldn't find UK and West Euro maps. Unfortunately we weren't going to Moscow.....
