NP7 5HF and look for Tourist Info Centre
Thanks Tigger
Follow the heads of the valley road (A465) from Brynmawr to Abergavenny, turn first left at roundabout onto A40 to Abergavenny, follow this road for just over half a mile, you will have ATS tyres on left and bus station directly opposite.
Cheers
Steve

BTW, if you're interested, there's a very nice little diversion (scuse the pun, wholly intentional) via a right turn just after Llyswen on the way to Builth. It runs parallel to the main road and follows the path of an old train track. You can see it on the map. If you'd rather stick to the main road, no worries, just thought I'd mention it

At the moment guys, we have around 8 - 10 interested parties, the route may alter very slightly, as I am trying to get as many as good roads in the route as possible.
Looking forward to the day and hope the weather will be kind :-)

Hi Steve Count me in, I can bring a few riders with me but they don't have Yamaha's. If you don't mind the odd triumph triple squeezing in the procession we can up the numbers. Let me know. Abergavenny is good! john

Update on the ride out, been asked if the numbers are low, can friends come along? I don't have a problem with this but don't want to be overrun with guests.
For the run we need to have a lead rider possibly a Marshall in the middle and tail end Charlie, if anyone is willing to offer their services, that would be great :-) I wil lead and another member has offered his services if all goes to plan.
We will be having three stops: first stop at Crossgates, second stop, probably in the Élan valley and the third stop at Epynt. There will be opportunities for some great photos to be taken, look forward to meeting you all.
Steve

Steve don't worry about a marshall in the middle, on most runs a 'marker system' is used, very succesfully, some of the members will explain on the day if you get stuck, but works well. I may be able to make this, but won't know till a bit nearer the day, and that 'may' be the same for some others, so sure numbers will increase albiet late on

It would be very interesting to get some info on how YDC runs are normally organised - Steve is fairly new to biking and I've never been on a YDC run (although I have been on a number of bike outings with Riders Edge, but the system may be different). If anyone would care to impart such information I'm sure it would be gratefully received

Here's a vid of the Yorkshire Run a few years back caught on camera by Ratty. Probably not the best example there is, but allows you to see the Marker System in action. Fast fwd to about 5mins 20secs and watch for the next couple of minutes, it's probably the same as what you're familiar with. The vid demonstrates how those following don't need to know the route or feel they need too keep to a certain pace, they just need to know not to overtake the leader - hence the orange bib to identify him. The Marker/Drop-off system is basically that when you come to a change of direction, you leave the rider who is immediately behind you to mark which direction should be taken. Dedicated back markers have the job to collect them up - they too are identified by hi-viz vests. The rest of the group just follow the indicated direction given by the markers' arm signals. No doubt Roger will have elaborated further, but as they say, a picture paints a thousand words... It also needs to be stressed that it is important that no matter how long the wait, that the markers stay in position until swept up by the backmarkers, or given a problem with the run, are collected by the leader as you re-trace your route! It all goes very badly wrong if someone doesn't adhere to that rule
