Ah fair, at least this ECU isnt as overly intrusive as some modern ones, in that it doesnt seem to control much! hah. My last bike, absolutely everything was electronically controlled and it was not a good feeling. Today i've installed a new speedo drive and cable because the old one was completely humped and getting just the plastic gear would have cost 7/8 quid before postage compared to the 15 for a whole other one. now that i've cleared out the old one it looks like the metal gear that drives the cable looks damaged so i think that was worth just going for the whole new setup its so weird to actually see the speedo gauge move smoothly and to the actual speed! turns out 30mph is a touch slower than i had judged it at

Finally got round to fitting the Maxxis tyre on the rear wheel. I always seem to struggle when removing and fitting tyres, but get there in the end. Put the wheel on balancing stands - it was near enough. While the wheel was out I repacked the susp rocker bearings with grease. Removed exhaust system cos it was blowing from front pipes to collector. Original pipes need fettling, so I have fitted some modified Motad downpipes. Used exhaust gaskets from Wemoto, and so far all seems well. Mind you I havent had a test ride yet.

I haven't ridden mine for about 2 months what with flitting off to the flip and it not having an mot, on Wednesday i took a trip from south London to an MOT station at Brands Hatch to stretch it's legs and blow away the spiders that have set up camp in the carbs.... Me and the lady have a brace of Viragos over there in the flip, i have the 750 and she had the 535, they are a little more 'for men who like to feel the wind in their vaginas' but big bikes such as those are a 'thing' over there....
Anyway, the leg stretching happened a little too early though, got tugged by the fuzz for doing 75 in a 50 (opened it up ½ a mile too early for the filth's liking...) but as it was such a lovely day and I was on the bike for the first time in a while with Sir Bob of Marley blaring in my shell-likes the three points wasn't too much of an issue....
oh, and it sailed through the mot with an advisory on the tail pipes not being clamped to the collector all that well which was rectified before I headed home with a little tightening of the clamps...

Today i finally fitted the luggage racks tgat came with the bike, i'd never had a proper look at them until my recent run in with my indicators, figured out that they actually are for this bike! had to do some minor fabrication due to a missing bolt and a few useless protrusions from their days of being used for the boxes that were specifically made for them. Next on the agenda is figuring out something to do with the worse patches of rust on the frame. for the most part it looks pretty tidy but in a few areas there is a fair bit of relatively deep rust/ peeling paint. i dont have the confidence with the bike yet to fully strip the bike down and get the frame powder coated so i'm going to have to patch paint. I've greased it all pretty liberally for now in the aim to stop the rust and protect the metal and build up a protective layer. the unfortunate thing is i'm going to have to clean it all off when it comes to paint it! i can already tell that the rust patches are going to niggle at me and make me paranoid so i may end up painting it sooner rather than later so if anyone has any tips or good products to recommend i would love to hear about them want to do as proper a job as i can to maker it last

Put a temp exhaust bandage around the collector, since it has fractured at the weld.
Found a Delkevic one for £119 on fleabay.
It has also developed an oil leak from the gear change shaft seal. 🌊

More exhaustage, this time it's the Black Widow 400mm oval cans. Easy fit, everything lined up first time, no octopus required, not even a mallet, and a nice fruity tone coming out the hole at the back. Gets even fruitier when the dB killer is removed, but I'm not sure my neighbours would appreciate it when I head off at 7am on a Sunday.....

Took these puppies out: Result, not offensively loud, just a nice deep boom, and a freer breathing engine. Whether it's any more powerful, or just sounds like that is debatable, but it certainly has all the pull I would expect.

I put my battery on charge, as I like to keep it topped up whilst parked up over the winter. Next big job will be just before Easter when I haul it out of the garage for a service and MOT. We've booked to tour the Vosges mountains and Luxembourg this june, so a pair of tyres will be required too.

Noticed the glued in place oxford hot grip had freed up making it get in the way of the clutch lever! Removed and put some superglue under it hopefully better than the cheap glue that came with it...Also adjusted the throttle side as stupidly I'd fitted it in a position where you had to wrap your thumb around the cable bulge on the inside which I didn't like, now its set back you can stick your fingers around it more naturally.

I actually rode mine for the first time since before Christmas.
Sadly it's now caked in mud and most probably some horse crap so now I need to clean it.

Fired number 2 spark plug out of it's hole! It always felt a bit rough compared to the rest, so I think the thread has finally had enough.
Can I get an M12x1.25 helicoil kit anywhere local? Can I bollox! And they wonder why people buy stuff off the internet instead of their local shop.......,😡
