I cleaned out the petrol tank about 600mls ago all good but noticed fuel starvation and hesitate to starting, when I took the branch of carbs off rusty red fuel came out the gallery that feeds all carbs, maybe fuel pump corrosion inside?but throttle cable frayed too so I'll be busy on the weekend lol,,,

Welcome theres one lad Satnav from oop your neck of the woods.( As long as he doesnt fob you off with leftover grey paint from his D9 swingarm refurb he keeps his Divvy in good fettle. I had a particularly pleasant run, in a Van loaded with a bike, albeit not a Divvy, up the Enast coast passing by Lindesfarne, Banborough Castle and Holy Island, maybe not in that particular order ,retracing a journey we did in the family car en route to Edinburgh, well over 50 years now, only this time I was venturing farther into Bonnie Scotland to Inverness. That in order in order to join in a 5 day tour of the North West 500. I used to have a Diversion 900s and apart from the weight manouvering it around the back garden it was a superb bike.( I too have owned a great many bikes) 10 years older than you good sir. Folk are really catching onto them now and the 600 I paid for mine, selling it for exactly that is perhaps a bit historical now, but even so a good one will. or even a project should serve you well. There are very many folk on here ready with advice on this Forum should you need it. Good luck.

40K and green (with a blue seat, that needs attending to quickly but the PO had either a standard seat with a rip in it or raised one in blue!). 12 months MOT but advisory on notchy steering so taper rollers on order and while I'm pulling the front end down new brake pads, braided hoses and new fork oil. Pick it up next week witha 150 mile ride home so that should show up anything else that needs attention.

Thanks Spike240,
The condition is pretty good. A few scratches here and there on the cowling etc, the chrome on the forks have started to pit at the top but luckily not on the working part. A bit of rust on the frame and driveshaft all of which I am going to try and fix. The neutral light doesn't work and I am thinking its the switch. Also I have a rounded screw on the master cylinder. Not sure how I will go about fixing that but I think I am going to have to drill it out and maybe replace with a hex bolt.
The colour is silver and the mileage is around 42000 miles (68000 KM)

Hi howard. Thanks for the info. I have had gaitors on my forks from new (prob on my 3rd or 4th pair. Chrome still ok. Might be an idea to service forks if ur pulling them out. A lot of folk take swing arm out, fettle it and fit new bushes when replacing - oh and while you are doing that check the suspension rocker bearings. Can't help with neutral light sorry. The screws in the brake res are made from cheese. With patience and Plusgas you may be able to coax em out. As you go through the bike you will find a lot of stubborn bolts unless a previous owner has removed them and applied copperslip or similar. Should be ok mileage - wise. With regular oil changes it should see 100,000 miles plus. Pity its not a green un - cos they are the fastest . ATB

Hi all I'm Martin from near Chichester I have just purchased my third 900 divvy, very happy with this style of bike. Suits my riding style (not keen on having to bend over a tank to ride) plus I think I do a lot of miles just for work which makes this bike a great choice. This one is an 02 plate, black with 26000 on the clock.

Hi.. Ive only really seen this after posting a few times so I hope better late than never!
Tom from Bedforshire Running a 2011 XJ6 Diversion F. 6000 miles on when I bought her! Upgrade from my learner Honda CB125F and sold that off after doing 2k miles. Been around a fair bit since getting the XJ6, chocking up around 7/800+ miles in 3 or 4 weeks. Loving the bike so far and everything it has to offer.

Hi Martin. Welcome to the site. You must like em - third one eh? Can you tell us a little bit about your previous two. What mileage? why did you get rid? etc. Best Regards I like the xj900 as it is a good solid bike, comfortable enough to ride the whole tank in one journey without feeling like you've just done 180-200miles when you get off. Admittedly it's not a fast exciting bike but I'm riding it for comfort not speed. It's also a great bike for commuting. Mechanically they are easy to fix and look after and more importantly it's a shaft drive so no more messing with chain lube. As I live very near the sea, not having a chain is great. My first divvy I hadn't had long when I hit a patch of black ice, no other ice anywhere but I had to find the only patch. Bike written off and I spent Christmas and the next 3months in a cast with a fractured scaphoid. Next divvy collected the day my cast came off, and I had that for about 6yrs and added 75,000 to the clock. Unfortunately it started having electrical problems that were becoming too troublesome and expensive to diagnose. So I've just part-ex'd for an 02 plate xj900 with 26,000 on the clock, should hopefully do me for another 75,000+ depending on corrosion from the sea air...

this is the first 600 divvy i've ridden and like it already'thought i had a problem with the assembly relay but through trial and error turns out it was water in the tank so hopefully will deal with that shortly not sure how it got in there, have only had the bike a few weeks, millage is only about 13,800 mls. as it was stored for a few years, from what some of the guys on here said about the relays and to check them for corrosion they were spot on,so cleaned them up and moved them up under the pillion seat so now nice and dry easy to get at as well, pretty clean for a 20 year old bike,my last bike was an 883 harley won't be going down that road again way to heavy for short legs like mine heh heh, might be interested in the southern counties meet up when its all sorted though andy.

Hi and welcome. Sounds like a nice bike. I got water in the petrol tank of a bike I had, turned out the overflow / drain pipe was blocked.
How have you moved the relays etc? Extended the wiring or summat? How long did you have the Harley?
Anyhow keep calling back. ATB

I have an update to my 02 plate divvy in that it has now been written off due to someone deciding to stop in the middle of the road on the other side of a minibus that had pulled out in front of him, I then swerved around said minibus to discover the stationary car on the other side. Crashed into the back of him (at 20mph) and it has now been written off. So I am now on my forth diversion, this time a deep red Y reg (01), unfortunately without any luggage racks but only 15000 on the clock. Runs very smoothly, still has original silencers but new S/S down pipes and collector box (4 into 2). Very rust free. Only modifications are LED front indicators and the main fuse, which I've only ever seen a self resetting fuse, has been swapped for a 30amp fuse.

Hi, Matthieu 35 years old, french guy from geneva lake. It's my 3rd 900 diversion. (1st sold, 2nd accident) I found your forum while I searched some informations. We have one in France but yours is more interesting even if it's in English and it's quite hard for technical words. I have tested the last 900 on compression test because I thought the HP were sleeping, oil in airbox.... Result is 8cm/2 instead of 12cm/2... The former owner did a lot of mistakes when he maintained it and I have to solve them. My bikes since 15 years: 650xr supermotard, 2*svs 650, sv 1000, ducati s2r/900ssie, triumph sprint rs, 3*900 diversion. i'm not a great fan of 4 cylinder even if they have a lot of power. I like big torque and power rapidly. Above 8000rpm, it's useful. The diversion is for me just a utility second bike but however I do 25000kms/year. So, i'm looking for a first one for the next spring and for the moment it could be a ducati 1100 hypermotard/s4r 998 or husqvarna 701. I'm wine waiter, I play the guitar, I like r'n roll and snowboard. I hope you understood me.
