By the indicators, they changed them for the later models. Eh? I've never noticed a difference .

I didn't notice any differences in indicators. The only changes I know of was choke to handlebar mounted, front brake lines and graphics or decals on fairing. There are probably other bits too. Mine is one of the earliest bikes. Anyway that is definately a nice paint job - or looks it from the photo anyway.

Hiya all, I have just got a XJ900s
It's been a while since ive been on the road and it is great..I have missed it too much. I got a great price on it too. It is a 2001 model. I have been reading the reviews in MCN and it seems like I made a good choice.

Hi and welcome. Congrats on the new bike. Just be careful wheeling it about - they weigh a ton! Where abouts are you? Would be good to see more Divvys on runs.

London at Leyton, near Olympic Stadium. I am deffo interested in meets and bumping heads with Divvy owners, so I can pick brains too.

Hello. I'm Colin. Live on an island in Scotland. Bikes are MOT exempt here!
Got a 2002 XJ600S which I've just left outside for the winter so now I have quite a bit of work to get it back on the road.
To be honest, I'm looking forward to getting the spanners out and getting stuck in.

Hello. I'm Colin. Live on an island in Scotland. Welcome, Colin . Do tell, how well does a Divvy 600 fare when left out over a Scottish island winter ? Enjoy the fettling, & bring her back to health!

Hi Colin and welcome. Yep I was out on my old XJ600 today and apart from on one occassion nearly being blown off course by a very strong gust of wind enjoyed the outing. If my old bike is anything to go by it is well worth the effort getting your Divvy fettled. My ex next door neighbour had one and used it every day for his work.

Front brakes have seized and I had to destroy the pistons to get them moving. New pistons and seals are in the post and I think a basic service will get me back on the road. Next winter, I'll make sure I get the old machine garaged!

How can you tell? Oh hi Mick and welcome.- Your bike looks brill. Did you do the work or did you buy it already done? By the indicators, they changed them for the later models. Sorry for the tardy reply, yes bought the bike like that, the guy I bought it off had a spray shop and wanted a more up to date look. Or so he said, but maybe the original fairing had been damaged, if it's from a later model.

My names Paul, living in Antrim N.Ireland.Bought my 1998 900 Divvy last October and it lay in the garden under a cover until a couple of weeks ago. Have been using it to commute since last week and I'm well impressed. I was a BMW rider for years but supposedly gave up biking just under 2 years ago lol. Luckily kept all my gear.

Hi Paul and welcome. Glad you are now using the D9. (No good under a sheet). I am also a D9 owner - bought it in 1995 and hated it after my BMW's - but I still have it -the D9 that is, and coming up to 90K miles. Look after the centre stand, cos they break.

Hi Scott and welcome. The 96 XJ600N sounds a great bike, especially whilst learning. I think I am right in saying the XJ600N is quite docile, but goes well when you rev it. Anyway best of luck with the test and hopefully see you on a future run.

But strangely enough, some of my most memorable rides (in a good way) have been on XJ600N's. So enjoy!

I dunno 0-60 in 4.5 seconds 115-120 MPH isnt bad and you are right about the fun factor, not necessarily when my front brakes whent West last week, thats buttock clenching adrenalin rush time.

Hello all, my name's Simon, I've got a 98 Xj600s. I'm English but I live in Spain - in the mountains south west of Granada, in an area called the Alpujarras.
My son (I'm 56) got me my bike for a Christmas present - bless him! A mate of his was trading up and let it go for £200, three or four years ago. It seems to have gone up a bit in value since then. On the good side, it came with a Motad 4-2-1 exhaust; Oxford heated grips; a Scottoiler and just 35,000 miles on the clock. On the bad side, it had been in a small front-end shunt: it needed a new mudguard and the fairing rebuilt. Also it had a slow puncture from a self-tapper stuck in the front tyre.
It's been sat for a couple of years while I fixed up the house we had in the UK before selling it and moving here. Then three weeks ago I went back to England to put an MOT on it and ride it down to Spain. It had new Bridgestone Battleax tyres for the last MOT. This time round I changed the oil and the oil, air and fuel filters as well, before setting off.
I got the ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbao, rode down from Bilbao to Madrid - for an overnight stop - and then rode from there to home the next day. No real problems: 500 miles, 80mph all the way and I think about 50mpg. Not bad for an 18 year old bike that hasn't had much TLC in a while.
Jobs that need doing?
- the fairing needs rebuilding properly - I've only bodged it for the MOT - to stop the headlight falling out - the headlight itself needs an upgrade - it's all but useless at night - the clutch bite-point is at the end of the lever travel - the clutch rattles (I've already seen a few articles about that) - the front brakes are binding (I've got a new set of seals to go in) - it pukes oil out the breather (sticky rings? I've put some Redex through) - sounds like the valve clearances need doing - carb to inlet seals look shot - mega rough spot at 4-5000 revs - needs a respray
Plenty to keep me occupied in between blatting it round the mountain roads :0)

Evening all, Im Kyran 29 I live in Sevenoaks area of Kent, im normally a Honda man im currently without a daily rider i have a 1987 vfr400 nc24 and a 1979 cb400n hardtail chop project that im currently working on. today ive been working on my old mans 2000 XJ600N for him which he hasnt used in 2 years as it was to heavy for him so he rides his 400 bandit instead. been working on it today removing stuck front brake disc bolts and he has offered me the bike to have if i do the work on it. i jumped at the chance as i need a work horse and something swmbo will get on the back off (the vtr1000f firestorm wasnt comfortable).
so far i know it needs new discs on the front, front and rear wheel bearings and a sprocket carrier bearing.
The bike itself hasnt had the best care and needs a proper clean but it does have Jama exhausts and sounds really nice and even on old stale fuel and a weak battery it started today and ran i was impressed.
Kyran
