Had various bikes over the years & just got my Divvy 600S 2 days ago. Really liking it at the moment, although someone could have told me about the noisy clutch!!! I thought there was something wrong with it at first. I've read up about it & how to change the pin to stop the rattling etc, so I think that will be the first job I do. The bike also has a FZR600 rear wheel, the guy I got the bike from told me it's a common mod to make handling better?? Is this right? Anyway, it does ride lovely So... Yea... Hello Diversion Club!! Hope I'll get to know some of you guys & pick up plenty of tips from you.

I mean, I've ridden 125cc bikes that had more power haha. As for something in Devon, there's always things going on here. Paignton bike nights every Wednesday are really cool.

Hi, I am Brian, I am new to the forum, I live in North Norfolk and ride a Divvy 900 which I have had from new, it will be celebrating its 19th birthday in a couple of weeks! I haven't ridden much for a couple of years and was going to sell it but my wife won't let me, she noticed my smile when I come back from a ride is so wide it nearly cracks my helmet so she instructed me to "MAKE THE TIME!!". As a result I have just organised four days in July, from home up through the Pennines to the Lake District. Before then I have to get back into the groove so let me know if any ride outs are coming up this side of the country. My best time on the bike was riding it to Greece a few years ago and spending three months out there riding fantastic mountain and coast roads so I am happy to go continental too.

I lived in North Walsham back in the sixtees, and a couple of years in Kings Lynn. It was almost universally Brit Iron back then, and North Walsham was the epicentre for all the bikers from surrounding villages meeting in the Cofee bar.It was hardly the Ace Cafe, or Busy Bee, however the leather clad Rockers used to go a racing down the Acle Straight into Great Yarmouth. Failing that there was always the Coltishall straight too. They used to go past our house and change down after the derestriction sign on the Yarmouth runs. Twice though bikes didn't make the corner and finished up in our front garden, amongst the trees. On the second occassion a young woman pillion passenger, was sadly very badly injured ,late the night her drunk boyfriend crashed into a tree, so my anti bike Dad had more ammunition against them.
Despite Friday and Saturday picture nights were a Mecca for the bikers , and in the spring summer and autumn the market place was full of Triumphs, Nortons , BSA , Tritons, that sort of thing, etc and after the law changed in 1961,from unlimited cc on a provisional, except for combinations,it changed to 250. after kids passed their tests on Bantams, C15 , Royal Enfield Continental GTs, and the ubiquitous Aerial Leaders and Arrows , they changed hands as bigger bikes were sought. I saw a very good friend on his 16th Birthday , a week before mine,on an Aerial Leader and the following week on a 650 road Rocket(had an unofficial go on his Beezer 650).
Then the Japanese invasion was under way so little Cubs, sports versions, super sport 125s and CB 250s were taking over as the culture of biking was losing its scumbag dangerous tear away image, ( but Honda had a clean cut campaign claiming you meet the nicest people on Hondas, then the 450 Black bomber Honda was reckoned to keep pace with 650 Bonnies. However they were considered fragile and undependable with difficulty getting spares. So the yokel Triumph dealer assured me when I quoted such to him. They were laughed at when first seen at the TT they were wiping the floor with 4,5, 6 pot Japs, not to mention Reed valve copies of MZs , after the designer defected to Yamaha, and then there was the Suzuki Super six that got banned from proddie racing, for being too fast. bridgestone did some nice bikes too but their tyres were *hit back in that day.
Mentioning the CB 750 taking centre stage, with equally fast Strokers, the game seemed over for that era of Brit biking as we knew it. The 3 pot Triumph Trident and BSA Rocket threes were as unreliable off track as the Slippery Sam Racers were reliable on it. Triumph tried to make the .3 into a four but Honda had stolen the limelight, then the Kwaka 900/ 1000s were virtually indestructible. There is a museum now where the old timber yard used to run down the back of our house, and quite a few bikes were trialled there. Perhaps being dewy eyed about old fashioned oil leaky bikes as seen through rose tinted specs is just that, nostalgia, but the image was heroic.
Anyway welcome, and Happy Birthday to your Divvy, great bikes that they are.

Hello, thought I would introduce myself, I am known on most forums as 'My Little Brother's Van' but the name doesn't work on here so I'll be MLBV....
been riding for 20+ years, me and my older brother did something silly when we were young and decided that I'll get a car licence and he'll get a bike one... The scheme worked well until recently when our ladies started questioning why we were insured on each other's vehicles even though we live 130 miles apart... Tugging at that particular thread unravelled all kinds of idiotic stuff which we thought was a good idea at the time and brushed under the carpet as we grew older and more responsible...
So, going legit is the way forward, direct access course booked, and this is a message to 'da yoot' stuff like this will come and bite you in the bum later in life, and in a way that the police and the court system can never compare with... It will upset your bird, and she is the one in control of both your money and your sexual pleasure...
So, got myself a fairly okay XJ900 sitting in the garage, chained up and my lady has the key, I won't venture a guess as to where the key may be hidden, as that way madness lies...
I am looking for a standard screen as the tall one, although good for the bad weather feels a little intimidating to me as i am a shortarse (i like to say average height, 5'7") but I will put up a wanted ad...
So, that's me, punk rocker been fighting the law, but the bird won!!

hi
I am new to all this bike stuff I passed my cat A test last month,
I live in the north east of Scotland, just outside laurencekirk and now have a r reg xj600n, bought this on the words of a very wise woman (my new wife, married day after passing my test) now how do I tell which version of bike I have i.e. (she has a zzr600 its the E5 variant), would like to know when ordering bits for it.
I have noticed a rattle from the clutch, it goes away when the lever is pulled in, will this be costly or can I have a go myself, I am used to getting my hands mucky, used to fiddle a bit with csrs
I don't mind if I have to spend a bit the bike was cheapish
many thanks

The first few characters of the engine or frame number should help, along with the colour. Then someone with a Haynes manual could probably tell you. Or specifications are here - whilst they refer to the faired version, the bikes are close to identical mechanically (apart from odd bits like the number of teeth on the rear sprocket ): diversionclub.proboards.com/thread/19633/xj600-history-specifications

Welcome jjpython. Just to let you know the clutch rattle you have is common to the 600 and although I can't point you to it there is a thread on here which will take you through the fix. I am sure one of our technical experts will be along and show you the way. ATB

Cheers Spike, she needs fork seals, carbs balanced, fuel gauge looking at. But luckily I've just come into some wedge, so I'll throw some into her lol

ok. A few folk on here have fixed the fuel gauge sender unit, as it is a common problem. Not sure the fix is permanent. The second option is to buy a new sender unit, which will be expensive. The third option is to leave it alone, cos when it's working it's not much use. I think the low fuel warning light still works when the gauge doesn't, but you will have to check yourself. My gauge hasn't worked for years. The other jobs seem straight forward. Anyway keep us posted on your progress. ATB

Yeah, I've been informed the fuel light definitely works, although the bro that gave it to me, doesn't remember what he was getting to a full tank before the light comes on. I've ridden her 160 miles with no light coming on, but I bottled it and field up hahahahahaha
