Dropped the bike on the parent's drive as I was about to set off . Replacement clutch lever ordered, just need a replacement indicator as the bike's weight on top of it bent the body and popped the lens off. Could've been worse ... Yup - could have been the in-laws drive.

Fitted new stainless collector to the newer XJ900 as the old one had rusted out around one of the clamps and was leaking.

Removed the lowering kit (and accidentally found the sump plug...). Still not able to use the centre stand without a block under the wheel.

No, but you can do. I made mine from an old paddock stand, real easy. Saved me quite a few quid since I've got the towbar on they charge me extra :-( & I don't have a car so I can't take the wheels in to the shop.

Washed it, prepped it, packed the "bouncing bomb" in readiness for a couple of days camping near filey. What a 1st anniversary treat for Mrs ChristheDivvy. I'm a star ;D

- Changed from MRA vario touring to Skidmarx Super flip up screen. A bit better, but still rather windy.
- Added USB-connector under the seat.
- Mounted engine bars.

Not sure if this was good or bad. They tend to scratch the road in tight corners, but did protected the engine as I crashed yesterday.

Nobody minds a few scratches on the road True, but it was a bit scary the first times... Not sure I'd lost control if I hadn't scraped them going into the corner though... Crikey - I've never managed to scrape engine bars in the twisties. Note to self: Must try harder . Don't try too hard. I did and now I need a new helmet... Only did it once in traffic, and that was a tight round about. The rest of the scrapes and the crash was on a track.

Packed up the bike with luggage for a long weekend away, think better do a last minute check to check all's ok before leaving. Bike won't start; all circuits ok except the ignition . Turns out there were some loose spade terminals within the connector block under the fuel tank between the right hand handlebar switch cable and the main loom. As a precaution, popped out each female terminal within the block and gently crimped the spade to make a firmer electrical connection. Not much in the way of verdigris on the terminals despite their hostile location. It was good timing that this happened at home. If I'd been a few hours away, I would have been stuffed as despite buying breakdown cover hours before, it didn't kick in until midnight the following day. Phew! Bike now approaching 91000 miles with no major problems.

Started to fit new Stainless Steel 4-2 Exhaust from Sandy Bike Spares. Still need 4 new down pipes :-(
Fitted my newly repaired Centre Stand :-)
Removed the lowering kit 'cos I couldn't get the bike up onto the Centre Stand - now it is fine. Have to get used to the higher ride again.
Put some new stickers onto the Panniers :-)
The new exhaust looks good. Bolt it all up tomorrow as hear what she sounds like.

Also refitted the repaired centre stand. Had the cracks TIG-welded shut and some gussets welded to reinforce the cross brace to the legs. Think I should have gone for larger gussets.

Made a rotating plate from an old pizza tray to turn the bike around inside the garage. Made a stand for the bike so that I could change the front wheel brake discs without hauling garage jack down from garage loft...
Changed front brake discs (heavily deformed on left side)
Waiting for four front pipes and new collector sent from UK (stainless). Pipes need replacing (fairly large holes), and the collector will just be a nice bonus. Old one looks fairly bad, I might say!!

You will be putting it away for winter soon Neil Not quite... fingers (and legs crossed) for just a tiny bit of snow this year. Have had our fair share of that nasty stuff previous years. Wet leaves in the road is a greater concern... I'll do my best re. photos of the pizza-tray. ("Left-overs" from a Snudda-tray from Ikea (£5,50)).

My sister used to work in a hotel in Oslo and I remember her stories and photos. Brrr BTW do you ever get carb icing ? There is a current thread about it.
