Guys Is there any way you can turn down the sensitivity of the auto spell checker. the thing that looks for bad langauge. If you look at my posts in the Drip, Drip thread where I say " e n t i t l e d " When I read it today it says " ent*tled" I mean, come on, that's a bit OTT I would have a stroppy " a t t i t u d e " but that would end up as.... well I'm sure you can figure it out.

There is nothing the site Admin can do about the "Profanity Filter" its built into the Pro-Boards site and you have two options: ON or OFF There is no way of toning it down (I have tried ) I have mine turned OFF but have used the option of adding my own filter where you can add words you want filtered and the word they change into Looking through "Some" of the posts on the YDC site it might be best if they keep it switched ON though HTH Colin PS: the Spell check is American English, like 99% of forums

LOL There is a list of words Trev and the FOUR letters that are being changed are being picked up as a word. This section of the post has been removed as it upset "alpaholic" . . . . . . . . . . . . . Nothing can be done about it. You just have to express yourself in a "Different" way LOL ;D (If this post offends or the management see fit to remove or edit, I appologise and feel free to do what ever )

I altered the sensitivity of the profanity filter yesterday as there has been a recent increase in members using extra characters to ensure that foul language is displayed.
I don't want to go through the 'this is a family site' thing again, it feels like a broken record and you all know it far too well. However, as we have discussed before, it takes more effort to type a swear word than it does to say it, and even more effort to go to the trouble of altering it so that it slips through the profanity filter.
Keep your language clean and I will happily restore it to the old settings.

Mrs Whitehouse (AKA Doof) I would love to know how you managed to "Alter the sensitivity of the profanity filter" I have even spoken to Pro-Boards Staff regarding this matter and there reply was: "Colin, I am afraid that the software used for the profanity filter is not adjustable. You can turn it off & use the list to add your own words and the word you want to change it into, you must however make sure that swearing is NOT allowed on your Pro-Boards Forum as per the T.O.S. I hope this answers your query."I can understand the change of the list: eg: Adding more * to a word in the list but not how you managed to alter the settings of the filter itself ! Could you please let me know how you managed to do it.

With Alpaholic on this one the banter here is hardly profanity and other sites including MSN don't really shut down sites for this type of behaviour. I think we're being a little over sensitive.

I think they make these rules to cover themselves. I doubt they ever enforce them. I really don't want this to drag on BUT............................... You will find that Pro-Boards do take this very seriously. I know of 3 forums that they have shut down due to Nudity and swearing (My 1st site included ) We had an "Adults/Over 18" section Password protected (Like this site) but due to the nature of some of the posts and jokes, the site was closed down. I couldn't get in, NO ONE could. I had to go to Pro-Boards Support to find out why they had closed it down. There is NO Warning, They just shut it down Ask M40man, Max900, they found out the site had been closed down before I did If you want swearing, nudity etc etc then the only way to go is to purchase your own web space/server space and build your own forum from scratch and not use a free one. If pro-Boards do decide to close this forum down due to violations of its terms Of service, the 1st anyone will know about it is when you try to log in..........It won't be here Everyone agreed to the Terms Of Service when you joined, you break THERE rules and they close you down, its as simple as that
