I have changed the setting so that only whole words are censored. "Entitled" therefore works OK now, as will Scunthorpe

I would still reiterate what DD and Doofer have said. Behave or lose the site. It's as simple as that.

And Bev, that 4-letter contraction of the word "firetruck" is in constant use every day, but it still doesn't belong on here. Just one example...

Our behaviour and language on proboards has been fine. (Despite plenty of promotion of Alchohol and S*x.) Doofer has said elsewhere that we are in contact with the proboards people, so if it wasn't we will not be deleted without warning. If my french post doesn't break the T&Cs Colin's use of racially predudicial language above certainly did and yet we haven't had the site deleted.

Can't we just relax about this. I though the modding was all back to how it was before it all went odd and for absolutely no reason we're getting back into hysteria again.

One more point. If Proboard are liable to delete our site with no warning over such trivial things why did we choose them? They simply aren't suitable. Why do we pick such poor providers? I post on a number of message boards and none of them are under constant threat of sudden deletion of the whole site. Shouldn't integrity of the site be among our highest priority?

The idea of my posting certain words was just to show what the Filter would change them into.
There was nothing racial about it BUT as you feel so strongly about it I shall remove that part of my post so as not to offend you.
As with everything, look at what the post states and NOT what YOU try and turn it into.

How did you come up with that one.
Pro-Boards out of ALL the boards that Doof & I looked at in the days leading up to creation of the new Yamaha Diversion Site had a lot more rules and were FAR more strict in there policing of the rules.

As I stated before, if you want to swear, post nudity or Porn then PAY for a Server and Web Space, Create your own web site and that way you can do what you like when you like.

The idea of moving to pro-Boards rather than go the Own server route was down to cost, as simple as that.
Would YOU or anyone else PAY to become a member ?
Would you carry on paying ?
I doubt it.

Have a look into the cost of running your own site, the amount of "Space" you would need to run a site like this, I think it would surprise you.
I have been down that road and its not cheap.

As with every other forum on the Internet if your not happy with something walk away from it, (& before you say it YES I have more than once).

All I have seen you do on this and the old MSN forum is moan and complain about the service, the way the moderators deal with some posts & have a dig at people who try and explain how things work.
Why not set up your own forum Mark and see just how much of a headache it can be.
No one does it for the money (There isn't any)
They do it to keep in touch with friends, make new ones, etc

pro-Boards is one of the most "STABLE" FREE (Please note the FREE part) forum providers about.

This is getting a bit out of hand.

I started this post to ask a genuine question as I wasn't sure what was going on.

It was not intended to be a stand up and justify yourself challenge to the site admin

They do a good job and get some flack for it in the process. I don't necessarily agree with every decision they make, but they are the ones who put the time in to look after this site.

They have and will continue to have my support.

On the plus side we all have a better understanding of the limitations imposed upon us by Pro-Boards for usiong their service

While a few of the recent posts have produced some tongue in cheek responses I feel we are all getting a bit carried away with this. Consistant modding through the profanity filter was working fairly well until recently. Modding becomes inconsistant when Mods decide unilaterally to delete posts or part of posts for percieved reasons of morality or profanity.

Since moving to this site the level of modding had, until now, been fairly good with no real feelings of injustice by members that I know of.

Not sure how proboards work but, given some of the adverts we are bombarded with on this site, I think even the most recent posts are far from likely to cause offence.

As for modding, I know several MSN sites that go way and above the type of behaviour the managers all claimed would have us shut down before the move to proboards. If proboards is so volatile they would shut us down with no notice, I'd humbly suggest we should not have moved in case a stray poster caused enough offence to lose the site.

Lastly we are adults but we are getting airiated about words heard in primary school playgrounds every day. I think if your families are so precious they can't be allowed to see or hear the odd bad word then the internet and possibly modern day life is not the place for them.

I enjoy this site and the varied characters I interact with but this is getting stupid.

I don't want to delete the thread as that causes more problems than it solves, but it *has* got miles away from the start point.

I don't know for sure that bad language will get the site closed, but do any of you really want to risk it? Colin's got deleted, and that was for stuff in the 18+ (password protected) section.
