They move, finally. The one next to the TPS is a little lazy, but there is a spring missing (however i'm not sure if that is the reason)

Lol I'm on holiday with the family at the minute so I had to move the diversion into a corner and pile everything on top of it. Couldn't touch it because I put my car in the garage the day before I finished work! Took a photo too but I forgot to bang it on. In better news I won some cheap cans on eBay, not sure if they'll fit and the have a scuff on one side, but for £30 posted I won't lose nothing. 6 days back at work then off to Spain for a week aswell! Enjoy.

I'm not sure how far to go with it to be honest, There is rust everywhere & powder coating the frame has crossed my mind. I dunno! Is it worth it? probably not! Brilliant, it actually makes mine look concours Good luck with the build, I'm looking forward to updates.

So I'm home!
Anyway, Carbs. Talk to me?
What would you pay for a set from a running bike? However saying that they're from a running bike means nothing because they could be working but have every bolt seized on them.
I'm also in need of a set of coils because I get no readings on the multimeter.
It's sweet that you all.miss me 😂😂😂

Aye up? No good that holiday job - bet its great to be back! Now then - what sort of Yorkshireman are you? Spent all that time f*****g about wi them carbs then talk about buyin some - get a grip. I understand why you want em - pity you can't borrow a set (no e can't av mine Trev). Where abouts are you from btw? Seriously if it was just carbs you needed, it wouldn't be such a hard decision - pay the 100 sovs or whatever and away you go. But you more than likely have lots more dough to fork out before you done. atb

Ok - I understand where ur coming from now. Can't help you with part numbers. Might have to just bite the bullet and buy a set. Sometimes on Ebay there is a make offer option - and I have used this with some success. Do you think it'll start with a decent set of carbs fitted? Ok Craig I'll leave it with you. Atb

Makes mine look pristine. There's hope yet for it.
If you do decide to give up baggsy first dibs on the centre stand, instrument cowl, and any other hen's teeth parts.
Vulture? Me? just saying that's all.
If you don't give up, I have a rear shock you can have for the cost of the postage. Can't say fairer than that.
Actually, do you have the ally suspension link thingy? If not I've one of those too (I think), but I will have to look to be sure.

I won't give up. I've put my 7R up for sale so i might have a cash boost to get this done. Torn between having a crack at painting it myself & getting it powder coated. Any way, just picked these up for a bandit 1200, might be too short. They were 10 mins away & at £15 i wont lose anything. Would fit straight on my 7 if i wasn't selling it. Edit: won't fit 7. Haha

Whats the shocker like? I don't want to be picky at something for nothing.. but if i'm going to paint it & make it look representable i don't want to put a rusty ol shock on it! But thanks though, appreciate that!

Received the cans i won on ebay for £30.50p delivered. The graze was pictured, but hasn't pierced through so doesn't bother me. FYI My home laptop is garbage, all i keep getting from photobucket is ads +£15 for stainless lines i dont think fit +30.50p for exhaust cans/silencers. £81.94 so far!

You are right spike, on the left side the rear set fouls it & the hole for the hanger is way off.
But it fits on lovely, might crack the welder out & see what happens!
Wonder if it will foul the swing arm, guess we won't find out for a while.
Still searching for carbs!
Anyway, off to Spain.

It's not your home laptop, it's photobucket. It is a total pile of sh!te. Have moved to Flikr, although the links require a bit of fettling to embed the image, but other than that it's ok. If you call that a graze, I would hate to see your bike after a 'bit of a shunt'.

I'm back from my jollies, not in work until Thursday yey.
Got 4 of the exhaust down pipe bolts out to get the frame painted, I brayed a 12mm socket on 2 of those because someone's rounded the allen off.
Any advice on getting to the more difficult to reach ones? Need a blow torch, Will be pulling the bike out of its pile over next few days.

Any advice on getting to the more difficult to reach ones? . I've always managed with a long 8mm allen key - you can put a spanner over the short end, or some grips, to increase turning power (if you're a softy southerner, like me.)

I might have a go at removing my exhaust but it's the FAFF of drilling out broken bolts that bothers me.

Productive evening, after a lot of head scratching, i eventually belted a 45 (i think) torx bit into them. (wasn't easy to get back out once the nut was off) The one behind the frame spar was the easiest, i undid the spar lowered it & that just came out.
My biggest issue was the bolt holding the center section up, i think its supposed to be a captive nut? on the inside up there at the back of the engine. Any way it wasn't and getting a 17mm spanner in there was near impossible, with the sun going down too may have made it much worse.
One of the clamps is rotten but ill just slice it off.
one of the oil cooler pipes was also broke, guy i got the bike off said there was a massive oil leak last time he started it so that should explain that. Not really had a look to see if i can buy some pipes of if i have to get the connector thing off what the oil filter is on.
Another thing to buy.

Small Update First of, i'd just like to say i am no mechanic and i would by no means recommend doing this, this way. If you do, make sure you are wearing steal toe cap boots & are lifting with your legs, not your back. First i removed the frame spar. Undid the other side & the nut & bolt just below Took the nuts off both the engine bolts at the back This is the part where i should've waited until my brother or mates was round, but i didn't. By the wood i think you can guess what happens next! Sat it on its arse. Laid it down Started to take the triple clamps off and the wheel. Rubber mallet came in handy to get the forks out! Which are pitted as hell, but not in the working area. (I don't think? How far until they bottom out?) Looked into re chroming (£150) so started looking at swaps but obviously that's not easy or straight forward However, me needing new discs, calipers refreshing, fork seals doing. Could be worth it, maybe. Random photo of the sump After i got the bolt that came out towards the side with no spar, i realized i had to flip it over so i could lift the frame over the engine. After that, i removed the last bolt and the engine came out fairly easily - i say easily, i was sweating buckets. Noticed this crack in the best bit of the bike Surrounded the engine with pallet wood to steady it. This is how i left it. So many things to think about, mainly colour for powder coating! But that costs money and at the moment i've got £0! Finish off with this last bolt that didn't want to come out & i'd had enough my back was in bits!

Great stuff Craig. Brilliant fotos. Thought that centre stand was too good to be true. Yerlafta get the welder out. Regarding the stubborn bolt - you run out of Plusgas? So is the decision made? Yunno regarding doing it up - or are you having a weigh up - how much it'll cost etc? Still think you'd be a very brave man to take it on. Anyhow keep it coming cos there's still nowt on telly.

I haven't run out of plus gas yet, I squirted the bolt with it then thought f**k this get me a beer. Lol I haven't made a decision yet. I've looked into powder coating, painting it myself, front end swaps, engine swaps, chopping the back end off and cafe racer it, chopping the back end off and fitting a random hayabusa/R1/kawasaki, Could streetfighter it. Obviously the cheapest thing to do would be bang it back to original condition, but if I made it a 1 off maybe get a few quid if I came to sell it. There are so many choices, but my current financial situation doesn't let me do much. But it should get better over the next few months.

Don't want to pour cold water on the customize idea however generally that is something that is usually done with a personal touch( or in some cases present company accepted, an iron fist). On the basis my first stock Virago engined Sachs was a real comfy bike, shame it could rarely be made to run on more than one pot, I was searching for a 650 roadster version,,and the only one I found was a bike that had been streettrackered, and in some areas not very well done, underneath the admittedly smart painted tank off an XS500 and cut down seat to fit. With a megaphone pipe she looked and sounded like a big Brit bike.
I did however use it for a good while and after laying it up in favour of bigger engined stuff, including a briefly owned D9, after selling that on for what I paid for it, had the Suzuki engined Sachs out of the shed and made some good headway , however there is still some original bits outstanding, I even bought another Virago engined one as a lot of parts, seat, tank forks are interchangeable.
Seemingly Folk now seem to be latching onto Divvy 900s and asking pretty high prices, for original ones in tip top order, however as usual the ethos of a labour of love is you tend to stop counting the spends after a while.
That said I admire your fortitude and as well as providing interesting posts you are helping another old bike be born again.
Keep up the good work and if you decide not to nothing ventured nothing gained.
