Well I have to say I think I would have come to the conclusion I had bitten off more than I could chew but good on you. Not being funny but with the Caviats no one was badly hurt in the scenario, a front end crashed one might render the parts you may well need.

But I do have a task on my hands.

Good luck, current asking prices might well indicate it's a job worth doing, of course the down side being do they actually get those prices, still it's another Divvy being put back where she belongs, that is back on the road.

Mine was quite rough when I bought it last year, but I rebuilt the brakes inc new discs, replaced swingarm and drive shaft, fork seals, delkevic exhausts, tyres and many other bits and pieces. I spent over £700 on parts and many hours in labour, so was it worth it? You bet

Though I doubt I'd take much of a loss either.

I sold my Honda NC700X which was doing 85mpg but was a little under powered and a tad boring, the big divvy returns 55mpg and provides ample poke for my needs. Planned jobs for the future, new oil cooler and hagon rear shock.

Well my work appear to have locked me out of photobucket so no photos at the moment. Made a bit of progress with the D9 at the weekend. Stripped down but the top shock bolt won't come out, nut came off OK, had this with Davy's. The bottom shock linkage pivot bolt sheared making life a little difficult. It was the shock linkage which had seized so that the swing arm no longer swung. If I'd got these two bolts out I'd have been on the cleanup and rebuild next weekend. Now going to have a bit of work to get the bike apart. The joys of working with crappy bikes. Won't be making a profit on this but I can't wait to ride it when I get it finished.

WTF happened to it?
It looks like someone buried it in a field for a few years! I wish you luck with the rebuild.
As the prophet said 'may your rusty nuts become loose my son'.

It might as well have been, bloke used to use it and put it away with salty road muck on it. To be fair at least he did use it all year round but a bit of maintenance might have gone down a treat. I think the last service items it saw other than oil changes was done by me about 3 years ago. Engine should be OK but the rest is needing some serious TLC. When he bought this bike about 6 years ago it was as good as Trev's.

Look on the bright side, if it was used all year it will probably have a decent set of heated grips on it.

Looks like another cash cow to me Looks like something to while away a few Autumn/Winter hours to me. All required parts have already been sourced.
Though I might have another cunning plan/project in mind too. And the GS850 still needs finishing, work tends to get in the way of my play time.

Yep they all take time but you are right the Winter is a good fettling time of year, well for you Hardy Narthern types, us softie Southerners tend to be fireside beings, as soon as there are signs of inclement weather, however there seems to have been an Indian Summer in these here parts.

About time too. Those sockets look too shiny and unused to me.

I'd be interested in helping out in lightening your workload by releaving you of the burden of the GS850. You shouldn't be lifting heavy loads like that with your back.

Davy wants me to keep it but I think when I stop playing with it I'll sell it. He'll be gutted, he already thinks it's his.
It is a heavy old beast though. My current plan is to show it at Ingliston in March. If I ever get around to finishing it. Divvy first GS next.
The Divvy is only getting sorted and cleaned up.

Actually it could go now but it'll be better with a bit of polishing. Though Ingliston isn't on until March.
