Okey doke, here I am. Wills or Will or William (or even Bill) in Liverpool, BMW rider who's just bought a Divvi 600 (actually an XJ600N) as a project and winter hack. Daren't tell you how little a I paid for it cos you'd all hate me. Needs new front tyre, the clutch plates unsticking, new mirrors and a bit of general TLC. Watch this space...I'll try to post a pic in the next few days. Years back had an XJ650, but that's another story.
Edit: picture now posted in run what ya brung section

Wilkommen! Years ago, when I had a Kwaka GPZ600R, my mate had an XJ650. We swapped bikes one time (for a try) and, to say the least, the XJ650 was "interesting". ;D The brakes were so comparatively bad that I almost rear-ended my own bike! And I think the steering bearing was worn/loose as it was difficult to stay in lane at 60mph, with the amount of weave it had. ;D

I can't remember any handling and braking problems with the XJ650, but it was many years ago. The main problem was that the previous owner had fitted a 4 into 1 exhaust. The downpipes blocked the oil filter, so they had to come off for an oil change. Trouble was that they were secured in the cylinder head by weedy little 6mm studs ideally placed to catch the crap thrown off by the front wheel. Four pipes, eight studs - by the time the pipes came free, four of them had sheared off. Off came the head to go to the local machine shop. By the time I'd finished it was the longest (and costliest) oil change I'd done. And it I remember rightly, the oil filter itself was a PITA to get out, too. Swapped it for a BMW soon after and I've had them as my main bikes ever since.

Hello
I'm Bernardo from Bucks.......
I've lived in Aylesbury for the last twelve years or so during which time I had no bike cos I was a house hubby/daddy looking after the kids...... Not only did we move here so the missus could get a prime job, but I gave up my career (Merchant Navy) and my bike.....! I part exchanged it for an estate car and a pram...... I'd always had a bike from the age of 16..... sob! But fear not... this story has a happy ending! I recently got back into "bikes" with a big scooter Honda Silver Wing (600cc) mainly for all season commuting to work. Yes, now the kids are at school, I even got another job and career back! After a few months I realised I was using the Silver Wing more for fun than commuting! Great being back on two wheels..... albeit a bit low on performance, So I had a few performace modifcations done.... This made things much much better, but still lacking brute acceleration associated with a bike, which I sorely missed. My Previous bike was no rocket, a BMW K100RT, but was fast enough. So decided to keep the scoot as my workhorse and get a bike as well for a bit of fun. I didn't have much dosh left, so needed to go for an older machine, but ideally solid, reliable, easy maintenance and comfortable. Have just got myself a '95 900 divvy, 28k miles and fantastic condition. She's complete with full service history and an easy life I think mainly as a sunday ride with a bit of touring in good weather..... Have been smiling ever since, as she rides real well. Talking of weather will send a few pics when it improves.
Happy Riding!

Welcome, Alan, Wills & Bernardo, Alan, you'll have to give us an update on how you're getting on with your new pride & joy.....hopefully you've had some decent weather to get out and try it - if you *have* to use it for the commute in the carp weather of late.....it can only get better - and it's good confidence training stuff this rain 'n muck. Good luck. And good luck to Wills for his winter hack project - lovely bikes the 600n's so it's always nice to see someone rescuing one from an early grave. Bernardo - well done for picking up what sounds like a peach. The D9 is a highly underrated bike (except by owners of course) and sounds like you've fallen upon the perfect bike for the job you wish it to fulfil and keeping the Superscoot for the commute should keep it in fine nick - the D9's do take a surprising amount of neglect for them to start complaining...... Time to start adding the extras....heated grips, taller screen, Wingrack, intercom, satnav, bike2bike radio accessories socket.............etc etc ;D There are lots of members in your area too - no doubt they'll be along soon... Welcome to the mad house, albeit an informative one. Rgds, Neil

Hi guys,
Thanks for the warm welcome.... Have already been getting lots of useful info from the site here. Am looking forward to posting some stuff myself, and probably asking loads of questions. As to going out for a trundle sounds good....
Have already been at work on the mods.... and have fitted a taller givi screen, and a universal Giv monlock rack so can swap the top box from my scoot to the Divvy when I need to. Have already experimented with different handlebar positions and could do with a bit more height, so have just ordered a set of risers. Also got a good deal on a magnetic tank bag at a local bike shop. What was to just be a fun bike has completely surpassed my expectations! This machine is a cracking mile muncher, seems more fun than my old BMW K100RT used to be, (is much more stable, and feels sportier) and in way too good nick to just leave in the garage for Sunday jaunts. My plan is to try and keep it in good condition, and enjoy all the more when the "touring season starts...."
Happy riding!
Bernardo

HI, My name is Adrian but I am more commonly known as Bully, on account of my last name being Bull. I ride a Diversion 900, which I aquired recently on a recommendation. I am based in the, once sunny, county of Devon - Exeter to be precise. I previously owned a Kawasaki GT750 but wanted something newer, with a shaft Drive, for a trip to Spain next year. Haven't got used to it yet, finding it a bit twitchy on the back end, especially with all the wet and rotting leaves lying on the roads.

Hi I;m Moose from Reading, Berkshire
I've just bought my first 900 divvie on Thursday from Bob here on the site. I took it for the local X-mas Toy run to Wokingham yesterday, first time out on the bike and its better than what i was expecting !!!! ;D
All the years of sports/super moto bikes being told that divvies are cr*p was obviously a load of pony
All i need to do is sort out some of those up and back US risers to perfect the riding position and fit some tyres and sort out the worn disks and then i'm ready for some miles next year...bring it on
Cheers
MOOSE

Hi everyone My name is Andrew and I am a 39 year old fireman from Bristol. I ride a Suzuki Hayabusa at the minute but don't kick me out yet because my wife rides a Yamaha XJR 1300 which she loves to bits. I was introduced to this site through one of your admins that I know through an internet game that I run. I've had a look through some of the posts and I must say that many of them make very interesting and entertaining reading. Take care and Happy New Year !

Welcome, The old XJ6 has more power than the Divvie, but thin forks and (relatively) weak brakes. Sintered pads and chassis bearings 100% good and all will be just fine. D
