We're hoping to be there for Sat as well please.
We've just been waiting for (would you believe it?) a wedding date from a family member before we can book accommodation.

Fens from where I live in North Norfolk is definitely interesting but am having problems finding any meeting point, times, probable routes etc in any post, please help the newbie.

Keep your eye on this thread for the times - it will be great to see you there.
I expect Bob will post the exact meeting point and time nearer the time. The Sunday runs normally start around 10am - Saturday bimble most probably in afternoon, but as I say the times will be posted (I hope) before the weekend in question.
Can't help with the route. If Bob sees this he may enlighten us, but on most runs we just rely on run leader. Hope this helps.

Yeah, come on Bob, spill the beans, where are we starting from at least ? (I don't want to book a B&B and find you've decided to start 50 miles away !)

Yes please, put me down for both days, Market Deeping is 49.6 miles from home so the tyres should be warmed up by then.
Never been on a run with you lot before so some idea of run etiquette & procedures would be good unless there is a briefing on the day.
What happens if the weather is unfriendly?

Briefing at 10.00, all will be explained. 2. Weather.... I have only ever cancelled one frosty rollocks run due to the weather.( 4 to 5 inches of snow). 3. The Green clan only know how to bimble......

Add me in for Sat evening too, I assume accommodation is available locally wherever we end up on Saturday.
Not sure about bimbling? I have got to 65 without ever having bimbled. Is it another of those things they do on the fens?

Just looked up bimble in the dictionary and it means 'to walk or travel at a leisurely pace' so I lied above, I have bimbled! Just never on a motorbike!

You should be aware that Bob (& his family's) definition of "Bimbling" is anything but. However, some of us travel at a more leisurely pace most of the time, and the marker system means no-one (normally) gets lost

The marker system, is that where the second rider stops and directs everyone until tail end Charlie arrives then drops in front of him?
Just to be clear I don't mind bimbling very fast! Just don't want to re-experience the time when 15 or so of us on all sorts of quick bikes were overtaken on a clear dual carriageway by a motor home, THat was the one and only trial of the 'everyone should be given a chance to lead system'.

Yep, I've done that and you are right it works well, only time it didn't was when drop-off mistook an un-associated rider for tail end Charlie and set off before real TEC, complete with slower rider in front of him, had actually appeared! That was quite a big group though and easy to lose count of.

Or when the whole group, bar 3 or 4 of us, thought a random photographer (who was actually part of the group) was marking and took a wrong turning short cut. It's interesting catching up with the back markers when you think you're leading the run. I'm not sure the real markers have ever forgiven me for their extended sunbathing opportunity, and it wasn't even my fault.

I believe there is still a straw bale in a thong impaled with pins somewhere slightly north of Lincoln

Whose tag line is something about 'idiot proof'..?? On a more serious note have we any idea yet where the Saturday ride will end up? Wherever that is hopefully there will be cheap(ish) local accommodation to be had?

And food, and alcohol (I suppose really attractive women with very low standards are too much to hope for?).

I believe there is still a straw bale in a thong impaled with pins somewhere slightly north of Lincoln . Pretty accurate actually, only I had to improvise and cut a tarpaulin to wrap around a1/2 ton bale to get a more realistic effigy

(I suppose really attractive women with very low standards are too much to hope for?). I suppose you're right, isn't Market Deeping in Lincolnshire* ? Attractive women are at a premium in Lincs.
On the plus side you can't see much by candle light, it'll be a whole different ball game when they get electricity.
* I have no idea, but it's around the south side of Lincs.

Post bookmarked for future reference....when was it you were next down this way ? A bit light on planned trips anywhere at the moment, had our annual holiday in Sunny Scotland this year.
Coast to coast might be my only trip South of the border before Next year. I do have the whole clan booked in at Atterby for May next year. We'll come round and empty your beer fridge for you.
In any case I'm covered, I said they were at a premium I didn't say there weren't any.

Struggling to find accommodation in Market Deeping for Sat night at a price that doesn't mean selling the bike to pay for it. Has anyone else found anywhere?
Alternative is go home Saturday after the run and return for the Sunday run, what is planned for the Saturday evening?

I struggled finding accommodation. There is a b&b quite near to the start point (can't remember the name of it), but being a Yorkie I can remember the price - 80 sovs a night - that's why I can only make Sunday run.

That sounds cheap compared to what I am finding, home is just under 50 miles so quite do-able but what is planned for Sat evening? Please tell me someone!
