Are you riding that load up to Cockermouth Martin? Well, attractive a prospect as that would be, I'm using a van to get up there - don't want to be late for the canapés you see .

Like if one breaks down they leave him to sort it. Will you defo be leaving Whitehaven at 8.00am? Ok, top gear rules apply, Except when they don't

I have a problem, (other than the obvious ) I've overheated the GP100 tonight. It was going so well too. I took it out for a wee jolly as I haven't really taken it further than round the block. Brakes fixed today so I took it out. Down through a local electronic speed indicator I managed a fairly impressive 49mph. Going on I thought I'd head up a hill but before I reached the bottom the bike lost power. I turned it round and headed for home, still getting 30-40 it seemed OK. Half a mile further on I couldn't squeeze more than 20mph. Pulled in and the hot smell, if you know what I mean, was very strong. Called Jr and half an hour later he rode it the mile home with no problem. I think I'm screwed.

I had a similar experience a few weeks ago. Engine died, even droppping thru' the gears wouldn't coax it into life - rear wheel just locked up. Rested it awhile & it started right back up . I had emergency/reserve plans to hook a bungee onto your thong & hitch a lift, so in the spirit of brotherhood feel free to lasso my tail whenever you have need, & be carried along to the next brew stop .

I thought that the Martin Kawasaki looked a healthy contender! Was thinking a problem free trip for you would add to the humour of the journey. :-D

OMG ! Do you all realise that this could be the first ever run, (where he has been in attendance), where the assumption is that Martin's steed will be the most reliable! If it is, the record books will have to be torn up and rewritten. It's not gonna happen, is it ? Have a great weekend all the intrepid adventurers and don't forget the piccies Brian.

One thing concerns me. Do I need to bring my own tea mug or is Martin bringing enough for everybody? Also will there be a choice of various teas or is it just the basic Darjeeling and Earl Grey? Will bring scones.
Scones!!!! Plus real butter (for tea), of course (got a cold bag???) Gutted we won't be with you all this weekend. The pre-owned CG125 hardly got off the ground in the end - gone much too far to be economically/time viable at the moment But let's not rule out the Return Match 2016 Have fun in the fine weather that we've ordered for you. Looking forward to the updates as and when.

Nice to see everyone even if I didn't join you all on the run. My money is on a Martin breakdown, didn't think he was going to get it started this morning.

Well that was an adventure!
Unfortunately the clutch on the AP50 was still playing up and I had to swap to the backup, a RG50, just outside Whitehaven. This turned out to be a good choice as this bike absolutely flew. Easily pulling up to 60 on the flat (no bullshit! Debs clocked it on the Garmin in the van.) We had an excellent trip across the country. Brilliant roads. One bike had complete engine failure at Reeth so was loaded into the van. there were various other stops for running repairs to Martins and young IBS. Sadly with only 40miles to go the RG50 spluttered to a halt at Sutton Bank (fuel starvation) so joined the other paperweights in the back of the van.
Martin plus IBS junior and senior along with finally rode into Scarborough at 6pm.
After dropping the camping gear and 1 bike at the campsite Debs & I went to our hotel but couldn't park anywhere secure so gave up and headed for home.
Good luck to the others for their return trip today.
Thanks to Ian for organising a great weekend, to all that attended and to Babs for the BBQ on the Friday night.

Well that run was certainly eventful, thanks to all attendees, to Mac and Debs for the breakdown service and showing the way to the Arosa campsite,
Thanks To the Arosa campsite owner who stripped Robs bike apart and rebuilt it and made us feel like VIP's when we arrived, enough that he could ride it slowly to Sutton Bank, and meet his dad, I can't imagine how they straightened that intake valve, he got home not that much longer after 3 survivors did,
I will post pictures tomorrow, I am knackered!

Sent from my GT-I9305 using proboards I may have to bookmark this thread . Arrived home at 11:30 this evening, after deciding that I wasn't knackered enough after the 2 days riding & interrupted night in the tent last night . Will write more tomorrow & check out if any of my pics are worthy an airing. Great adventure, courtesy of the greatest man who ever lived .
