Getting this in early, as due to auld Lizzie interfering with our usual dates, some may need to take time to come to a decision re attending.
Dates will be June 2nd - 5th, runs to be on Sunday 3rd, and Monday 4th. Location Oban.

I think there is an extra BH (Tues) for the Diamond Jubilee. I am "guessing" that the logic is for people to travel there on the Saturday, to avoid booking time off work on the Friday ? Dave

Dave One of the southern cousins is on the ball ;D If there is a big demand for a Saturday run and peeps are coming up on the Friday, then the ND can accommodate this. Buy us enough drink and we'll do almost anything BTW there is no public holiday up here at the end of May. We are joining in with the arrangements for Queen Elizabeth the 2nd of Englands bash.

Eh yourself, June 4th and 5th aren't the end of May are they you knob Is he still on the ale ;D I wish . I was pointing out that hols are the same as ours around that time (not the end of May because of the way the week-days fall, that's all). North of the boarder enjoys a day for the Jubilee just as softy southerner's do .

Oban, I'm sure thats one of the most difficult locations to find affordable accomodation. Is there camping facilities that anyone knows of? I will be in attendance as I hope the rusty resto divvy 900 will be ready to show off. I found this one www.obancaravanpark.com/ but dont know if its any good. Is anyone else camping? Or do the softy southerners need Hotels and B+b's?

...Is anyone else camping? Or do the softy southerners need Hotels and B+b's? With regular pitches at £19.50 per night, camping isn't cheap there . ...... so maybe booking lodges or caravans, would give levels of comfort for us softies, at little extra cost compared to tenting it (maybe cheaper, sharing ). I'd be up for sharing if we can find a suitable breakfast place .

Not sure if it's in your diet Martin, but there is a superb shellfish stall on the south pier. For cheap accommodation right in town, the Youth Hostel is top choice.

Unless you require electric for your hair straighteners, it's £15 per night for 2 people... or £7pppn at Roseview Jr, if we're going, then camping will probably be our first choice Then again... they're a good walk from the town.

Because Pops can't make the JR2012 run, I have been press-ganged nominated as carer for an elderly Lincolnshire gent who wishes to attend. I'm naturally inclined towards comfortable, warm, dry accommodation commensurate with my Softy Southerner status. However, my aging charge is suffering from a type of mental degeneration which leaves him incapable of accepting the effects of price inflation over the last 40 years or so. Indeed, on the question of bed & breakfast accommodation he has instructed me to find somewhere for under 18 shillings & thrupence. This is proving tricky. So my question is this: Involuntary Euthanasia - a good idea? What modestly-priced town-centre accommodation have other folks so far found/booked? And will someone explain to Trev my elderly charge that he's just going to have to dig deeper into the pockets of those yokel pockets of his ? TIA.

I appreciate your dilemma but it's Oban, prepare to be ripped off. The added cost of a hovel will be forgotten when you arrive. Even the elderly Lincs lout gent will return home thinking it was money well spent.
