Will you be replacing the cam chain on the D6, bearing in mind the Megane has a cam belt failure? ;D

Spent about 6 or 7 hours on it today... First before i tried to mate the frame to the engine (easier than trying to lift the engine) i decided to tap out all of the threaded holes in the frame... Cue a trip to machine mart, back to the bike i tap out the threaded holes to clear away any powder-coat that got in there, after that i thought it best to fit the steering head bearing shells that go in the frame the reasoning been i can still easily turn the frame over to fit the lower one Engine lay on it side (clutch side down) and i carefully put the frame over it, a little bit of jiggling and i soon have the brackets and rear mount done up tight enough to right the frame. tightened the engine mounting bolts and then set about getting the rest of the headstock together. had a small technicallity the top dust seal wouldn't fit over the frame the powder coating is a little thicker than paint, a bit of dremmel action later and it's all sorted. next task is to get the forks in, so i lean the bike forwards to fit the centre stand (loose, it will come of again when i'm done) knowing that it's front heavy i balance it on a jack under the sump. forks go in no problem. i can fit the front wheel and do away with the dodgy jack now had to do a bit more dremmeling on the swing arm for the thrust caps to fit and again on the frame where the swingarm mounts, the gap just wasn't quite wide enough no matter how hard i tried. fitted the rear wheel and cleaned up the adjusters. Thats it for today, i would have worked longer nut hav yet to fit some lights so i'm relying on day light which sadly was starting to fade.

What about the stands? That centre stand doesn't look healthy . since the foot lever broke off a good while back the centre stand is not fitted permanately to the bike it just goes on loose as and when i need it.

Bought it last november-ish, after discovering one of the bushes on the Betor has self distrructed, Hagon (twice the cost of the betor) much more study and better built, can grease the bushes dead easy. should last a couple of years more before needing a rebuild :-)

Thought it was a Hagon, simple but well made.
Had one on my ZXR750, makes the rear seems like its from a different bike!

I seem to have spent 3 hours doing not a bliddy lot ! all i have to show for my time, is a reasonably black but clean left hand switch gear, side stand and side stand switch, split the rear fender bit from the under tray, and thats doing a poor impression of black at the moment, not sure i want to try the peanut butter just yet maybe tomorrow i'll have more to show for my time. Oh got a bargain off ebay, front and rear goodridge braided hose brand new with banjo bolts and washers £20 :-)

Whooey, car fixed mid morning, so i finally got time to get round to doing a bit more to the D6, tidied up the front brake lever, and resevoir, tidied up the clutch side too, then set about the rea brake, that too got tidied up, wiring loom seems to have a mind of it's own... but i've found the dealer service manual and it has routing diagrams so i should be able to sort that out in a jiffy tomorrow.
i've spent ages apparently doing not a lot, but most of my time has been spent cleaning and tidying things before they go back on.

New brake hoses and painted the lever. most of the electrics are sorted. handle bar area tidied up, not sure what i'm doing with the heated grips yet...

Looking forward to seeing the finished bike.

Going well. Next thing to do is lose the roadrider tyres, they're pants compared to BT45s, which were probably the favourite commuting tyres of the druids that built stonehenge, but still work best.

Ta Bev, i ride all year round so it doesn't make much difference to me when i did it, but i agree it's much more fun riding in the nicer weather, assuming i don't run into anything major i should have it back on the road come September.
amorti... You really don't like the AM26's do you ;D

Done a bit more tinkering this evening, mostly cosmetic, replaced the front engine mount bolts for none rusty ones, new screws for the front brake resevoir, cap-head screws on a couple of the engine covers ect. painted the gear change lever but thats still hanging up drying... oh put all those pesky split pins back in...new ones of course. doesn't look like i'll be getting my panels back this weekend so maybe next weekend..suppose thats what you get for entrusting the job to a mate who's gonna do it for next to nothing.

If the Health & Safety police would like to leave now . . . . . I love a good bodge And it runs, was a bit lumpy at first but as it warmed up it seemed to get better. besides that i've fitted the front brake hose (loose) still not sure the best way to route it. Fitted the headlamp and HID kit. new spark plugs, oil and filter, changed a few more screws for new ones. p.s. Rossm...i was lucky enough to have been gifted the hugger by another club member :-D
