Cheers bud , on the front wheel I got 8 of 12 out whole, 4 had to have nuts welded to them as they were just solid and the socket rounding out , 3 of them came out from the heat of welding but one sheared but I managed to drill it out. The rear tho was a complete git, all 6 had to have nuts welded to them but 4 still sheared so just bought a rear wheel of eBay, was only 16 quid delivered

Think I was just unlucky, original disk never been off so exposed end of bolt realy rusty. I think if I could have got a shot of a blow torch aswell as a welder then they would have come out lol

The fairing stripes will continue onto the tank but need it mounted up to get the correct angle. Still gotta get diversion stickers on there and a couple of xj600s stickers

Managed a couple of hours today , sorted starter problem, turns out it was the earth/black wire in the connection for the large relay. Got my new chain and sprockets and shock from a 2010 xj6 fitted also . Stuck on the rear plastics to see if I like ........... I do ha ha . Noticed my rear tyre which has like new tread is goosed with dry rot between the treads, bit gutted but hey ho it's getting there. Tried putting the air box on but it just doesn't wana go back on carbs but will try again another day. So on with the pics

Anybody else looking to replace the rear shock then I can realy recommend one from the xj6 (for reference it's from a 2010 bike), it takes my weight realy well and is a direct swap plus only cost me £20.50 from a eBay breaker .......... Tho I may have to get harder springs for the front now as it feels poo compared to the rear

Re the airbox refitting, a spray of silicon*, or pledge, around the holes helps it slip on easier. Bikes looking good btw. *just keep it away from tyres

After I held the outlet side up to my gill for a couple of mins ha ha

My original tank had a patch on the outside of the fuel tap area that was damp with fuel and as i removed the fuel tap red like moulds were coming out so recon a old owner tried some tank lining chemical that deteriorated letting the fuel seep out ............... Glad I didn't use that tank ha ha

Diet own brand does contain phosphoric acid bud and think it's citric acid , I spoke to soon on doubting the cola as the breather is now almost rust free and the bad bits not as bad , even a line where it was filled to ha ha ....... Lots if crud came out draining it, Pics to follow .
after seeing lots of our American cousins vids and posts it's now bathing in apple cider vinegar tho only a littre and a half to try get the worst off the fuel tap hole
