diversionclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=12831Mine did it this morning. The starter spun but no ignition. I pulled off the clutch switch connector, cleaned the dirty contacts and shorted it out. No change. I rattled the TPS connector - No change. I rattled the fuse box connectors and it started. Disconnected and reconnected both coil LT wires - No change. Next job pull off side panel and clean all connectors around the fuse box and igniter box.

According to the handbook supplied by Yamaha, this is the self diagnostic system in operation. 9000 revs indicates a problem in the ignition system. 10000 reves indicates a throttle position sensor problem.

I've now checked and clean my wiring under the RH seat side cover to find there was nothing unusual going on. I did properly solder the branch connection from the ignition live to the heated grips relay and LED marker lights, so can feel smug. But TBH, the amalgamating tape wrapped scotchloc (sorry ) was all fine and clean. Since then the bike has worked with no odd behaviour and I could imagine the tickover is smoother but its probably just that - imagination.
