I just fitted the clutch lever and mount assembly from a Honda to replace the crash-damaged part on my diversion. Here's a quote from where I proposed this in the "What did you do to your divvy today" thread:
Fitting report:
I got the bit off a Honda 125 shadow, which was my only mistake. That part has an 8mm mirror thread. If you get the identical part from eg, Deauville, Bros, CB500, CB-1, CBF500, 600 (unfaired) hornet, etc. etc.... then this will be a one-for-one trade and it is a very good swap.
Good stuff:
* The mount clears the handlebar switches fine.
* The lever is on a thicker pivot bolt, so it doesn't wobble. There is also a bush in there so it shouldn't wear oval like the Yam part does.
* The whole thing is beefier so will hopefully bend not snap in a drop.
* The switch works fine, just fit female insulated spade connectors.
* You can remove it (if you ever have to) without having to take off your bar-ends and grips.
* It looks like (untested as yet) the mirror will still clear the fairing, and it is moved about 1 or 1.5" further out, so more view/ less elbow.
Bad stuff:
* None.
Result:
Since the lever no longer resists or wobbles on its pivot, the clutch action is now much much smoother and more reassuring as my old one - even before crashing - the lever "waggled" up and down. The leverage rate is also a bit different, so the clutch is less snappy, and also lighter to pull. I call this a result!!
Also if you have done the 1/2" master cylinder swap off a deauville etc for the single disc variant, you will be back to a matching pair of levers to keep as spares. For me, I can have one spare pair of levers for my fireblade and my divvy. Bonus!
I've just ordered the clutch perch off a Homda 125 shadow vie ebay to replace the whole assy. with. The clutch perch on mine has spread, so the lever is wonky but apart from that it's a poor design anyway: you have to remove the (in my case electric) grip to get the clutch perch off, the pivot point has no bushing so wears and gets wonky over time, the lever is at its thinnest right were it has a fulcrum working against it so will always snap not bend, and apart from that it's just a bit ugly.
Hopefully the honda one will fit, I see no reason why it shouldn't be compatible, it's just a bracket onto a std metric bar, pulling on a bit of cable. If I'm lucky the mirror will even still miss the fairing...
