Hello,
I am getting a recurring starting problem with my D600S - 1999. Basically when I try to start it, I get an ticking noise and it doesn't start. The battery is fine and the bike jump starts fairly easily (don't want to do that for too long).
Any tips on what to look for ?
Thanks

You might well need to service the starter motor or it could be as simple as a dodgy connection at the starter.

The xtra whumf can hide the weak starter, but as it starts on jump leads the battery might not be so good either. Be careful jump starting from a car - don't run the car engine or you risk frying the bike generator's regulator unit.
Have you tested the generator voltage with the engine running. It should be giving around 13.7 volts.

Sorry I didn't mean jump start, I am push starting it !
I'll check out the starter motor. Now where is that Haynes manual again ??

Is it just one tick when you push the button? try the battery(it may turn the enging over quickly, but not have the current to start it) and the connections under the R/H side panel. 9 times out of 10 those are the problems. HTH Charlie

All connectors and electrics look fine. Seems like the brushes in the starter motor are worn out, will see how I can a replacement part for them (any ideas who can sell these + ship to Belgium ?)
Turns out just taking the starter motor apart, cleaning it out a little and putting it back has solved the problem (but I guess this is only temporary).

If the starter brushes are within tolerance then you won't need to do anything else. I am sure you could get Fowlers to send them to Belgium. I got mine locally as he is a good guy to deal with but he gets all his stuff from Fowlers.
