Is the camchain tensioner on the 600 automatic?,or is there a way of making sure it's doing it's job?. I'm a bit paranoid having had a few old hondas with their rattly camchains. You used to just slacken off the adjuster and you could hear it jump to where it should have been. Any prospect of doing similar on the diversion?.

Short and sweet: yes. If it's rattling, undo, let click, tighten. Made the top end of mine loads quieter. Doesn't stop the clutch rattle though.

Is that with the engine not running and cold?.

If you want to undo the CCT while the engine is running, be my guest. If you want to try and put your hands in that gap while the engine is hot, ditto.

Probably pronouncing the obvious - but the loosened tensioner wont click if the engine is running.

The rattle you hear when the bike is idling, worst when the clutch lever is not pulled in. Pull the clutch lever in, the rattle subsides (somewhat!).

ah OK, sounds like mine might be this, but pulling the clutch lever doesn't make the rattle subside.

on the subject of the cam chain tensioner, is this an automatic unit, or do you have to slacked off the centre bolt to get it to click 'n' adjust, while the engine is running?

It will adjust automatically! You don't need to pre-empt the tension adjustment. My 600N simply decided one day to 'click' on it's own and has been quiet for the last 4k +.! Yes you can do the manual slacken trick but I thick the cam chain is well within tolerance anyway, it's just the noise that's annoying.
