Just done an oil and filter change about a month ago. Oil level near max mark.
I start up bike either mornings to goto work or eve when comming home from work and bike has been sitting and is cold. Start up,tad of choke then once started choke in and off I go.( I dont sit for ages with choke on) After a few yards oil light comes on. If I stop and turn engine off for a few seconds then start again it wont come on again. Same if I stop at a junction for a few seconds with bike ticking over it will go out and not come on again.
Why does it do that?

sometimes the oil filter can be air locked after an oil and filter change, happened on my zx6r. If your oil is still new then dump it to a clean container and remove filter, fill filter up before putting back on bike and use oil again.

This is common. Just top the oil up a bit and all will be well. The oil level light can be just a wee bit sensitive! Charlie

Yamaha dont have a normal oil light, its an oil level light and comes on when the level is low, which is usually not very low, its certainly not an oil pressure light, so dont worry to much, as long as you can see oil in the window

Make sure the bike is on very level ground when you check the level, then top it up to the max again and it'll probably stop doing this Top end is also quieter with properly-full oil.

I'm also getting this problem nobby, even after leaving bike to warm up. If I leave it for ages to warm up oil light doesn't come on though, but can you be bothered.
I am going to change oil and filter soon so we'll see if having it topped up to max helps.
A question though, would topping oil up to a bit over max help?

A little extra wont hurt, but not having a dipstick you need to be careful as too much oil can cause it to churn in the sump, blow seals and all sorts of not nice things.
It might just be an over-sensitive level switch.
