???went for my first ride on my streeet fighter divvy 600 today, and because i have a voltimeter and i like my bikes to run proberly i ran the thing over my battery to make sure the reg rec and battery were ok, the bike is only putting in 12.35v when the bike starts to warm up. only thing is as its street fighterd the head lights come on when the ignition is on as the switch gear has only a hazzard setting. the battery seems to be holding its charge, it only drops a few points when you switch of the engine or stop charging it, the bike dont sharply up the charge when you rev the bike either.like it it mite if the rec res was cooking the battery. my cbr chaeges at 13.35 volts so what should the divvy charge at? does any one know, ? one thing i tryed uping the idle and the input into the battery uped a little. i aint got a problem changing the rec res and the battery but id like to know for certen before i change them any help? ? cheers jay

It should be the same as any other 12V lead acid battery system and 12.35V does seem a bit low. You could try disconnecting the headlamp and see what voltage it shows with minimal load.
BTW has anyone tried fitting a 12V or cordless drill battery. It should be lighter than lead acid, but no doubt not a simple swap.

going to try that this weekend, to see if without the head lights the volts jump up to where they should be, if im right then ill have to try and find some divvy switch gear that has a off lights switch and hope it just plugs in and works or get a light switch and wire it in, only roblem with either of those thing is i dont have a clue about electris!

No need - just pull off the headlamp bulb connector and see if the volts go up.

well i have it a go and i unpluged the lh switch geat from the bike and the volts jumped right up with the bike running, 14.50 volts with the back light on and dont jump when you rev it so the problem is the massive drain from the head lights, i found that my divvy is the us import so the lights are onall the time, and with the street fighter dominator light the guy put on it they use to much power, ive found a uk set of lh switches which have the lights off selector button so will have to cross my finger and hope the plugs marry up and i can switch off the lights after ish me luck as if it dont fit ill hav to wire in a on off switch in some where after the cluster

I'd suggest the long-term answer is to fit a headlamp bulb with a lower wattage so it doesn't take as much drain. Just fitting a switch will stop the battery going flat when the headlamp's off, but personally I'd prefer to have it on all the time.
I suppose an alternative would be to fit a lower-wattage driving light (some other posts on here recently about these) which is on all the time, then just use the headlight when absolutely necessary.

well bing the us version the lights should be on all the time and normally it would be ballenced out buy the bikes power disterbution but these new lights i like just the bulbs are to much for the battery and the bike, the rear seem ok there after marcket led units. ive just paid for a set of uk lh switches so im hoping that the plugs and wires are the same so i can fit the switch and have the lights off when i start and switch off the bike, the power obvusly runs though the switch at the monent fitting a on off cluster should just allow me to block the power as per all switches that switch on and off, no one has said for curtain wheather the plugs are the same so ill just have to wait and see and cross my fingers toes and my balls that they are, im sorted if it all goes to plan

Do you have twin headlights? One option could be to switch one of them out for daytime use. If they are very powerful it might be wise to fit a relay so the handlebar switch contacts can cope. I have some 2" round LED torches that make ideal marker lights on the 900. Bright without dazzling and pull next to no power from the system. Halfrauds sell LED bumper lights that might do the job.

yeah there twin street fighter dominator lights and the draw was huge, my divvy is the us import so it only had the hazzard switch got my hands on th uk cluster for the same year and it just plugs in and means i can switch of the head lights, i have no park or diped lights but thats down to how the guy i got the bike from wire them in but they work on and off and hi and low on the main beam, and the led back lights stay on as soon as the key is turned, i also fitted a led yamaha rely so i could fit led indcators and that droped the draw from the battery a little more and there extra bright. also had to fit a mini mech speedo as the electronic one the last owner fitted didnt read above 34mph, all thats left do do is get the fzr 600 rear wheel in and may be a rear shock as i cant adjust mine , it just wont move! ;D
