Didn't the old XJ have a linkage? I think so, which would make the answer no.

Amorti is probably right, but if the spring has the same number of coils with the same diameter wire, there's a good chance it has much the same spring rate. If that's the case and the shock is an acceptable length I'd have a go and fit it. But you'll be VERY lucky to find a pre divvy shock thats not ****ed.

The Betor shocks have not had good reviews, whereas Hagons always seem to come out well and are rebuildable. Its probably worth paying the extra for Hagon.

I think the Betor's seem to have a decent reputation for the 600[/li][li], but most 900 owners seem to complain that they're not up to the job.
Disclaimer: [/li][li] But, I may be wrong....

I had a Betor in my D6 until about 2 years or so ago. One day I noticed a strange pogoing, stopped, saw oil everywhere round the shock and rode the 10 miles home very gingerly. Upon inspection, the blasted thing had simply snapped - the only thing preventing total catastrophic failure and collapse of the rear susupension was a central steel rod which upon the shock extending luckily didn't pull out of its mounting.
It was totally *****d. Maybe it was a one off and a dud, but I won't be in any hurry to buy a Betor shock, ever. A kind gent on here sold me an OEM D6 shock for not much cash which has been absolutely fine.
I had a hagon replacement on a VFR400, which was way better than the OEM Honda, except that the spring rate was too high - worked beautifully two up, but solo had next to no sag. A lower spring rate WAS available for that shock (er, 110kg/cm versus std 140kg/cm, I think?), I later discovered. Could be something to think about if you go with a Hagon and are a 10 st featherweight. HTH, Nigel

qtws, I'm not saying you didn't have a bad Betor shock but how long had it been on the bike? I've got one on mine and I'm mindful of it's price advantage over Hagon (good reputation of course) and I found all other possibilities were even more expensive! If they're all like yours then they'd be out of business by now. I suppose anything that gives out before it's time, whatever that might be, then you're bound to be put off. The symptoms of oil leak and pogoing are exactly what the Yam original does too when it gives up the ghost so at least they got that right! ;D

I put a used WP emulsion shock on my 900. It was fab for about 12000 miles but it went "off" quite suddenly. No complaints - it only cost me £60 !!! I had it rebuilt for £100 and its back on the bike. Though its now a bit stiff for my taste. Ho hum.

I'm sure I've seen that an r6 (not sure of the year) shock fits nicely onto the 600 diversion - someone correct me on this though. I did see one from a 2000/2001 model go for £17 on the bay.

I suspect the R6 linkage might give a short shock stroke compared to the Divvie 6. You'll need to do some digging around for info, but at £17 its worth the risk and you could have it rebuilt for around £100.

The Fazer FZS600 has a shock that is the same as the D9. The Hagon site lists it as the same number. The FZR600 isn't the same.
