The last one I used was a champion from a local car spares shop.

I used a Champion F306. Same as I use for my Fazer1000 . Wemoto & elsewhere sell them: shop.wemoto.com/pictures.dyn?u=2147930qqq5828134Halfords also usually have them in stock too. About £6.00, so if you aren't buying other stuff, it's cheaper at Halfords if there is one near you, as there's no postage to pay.

Yes, Halford's £6.50. But I hadn't realised that you need a special tool too! Back to Halford's I suppose

It might come off by hand (it should if its been fitted correctly). Or you could bash a screwdriver through it. Filters need to be only hand tight so no tool needed to fit the new one, just oil the seal and screw it on.

Iv'e always done mine up hand tight, and always needed a tool to remove it! I usde to use a chain whip, but recently I bought an oil filter socket. One of the best tools Iv'e ever bought, and cheap too! Charlie

Same with the car, no need for 'special' tool; if after a short run you find it leaks a little then you tighten it a bit more.....? (Yes it's more convenient to have the exact spanner for the job, I know ;D)
