1 essential was a 17mm spanner with the angle on the ring end 'flattened' This is so you can get the sump plug out easily. Still got mine in the toolbox!

Matt funny you should mention that, i have a D6 with the nexus 4 into 1 exhaust and the sump plug is partially block by one if the downpipes, last weekend i made a tool out of a 17mm ring spanner too, involved thinning the ring part slightly and then bending the shank of the spanner in the opposite direction of the angle of the ring end, so that its parralell but ofset to it. I found the 6 point "impact" sockets have less internal champher and worked fine, but I didnt have a Nexus system.
For carrying with the bike, a set of allen keys and spanners in 8, 10, 12, 14 and 17 plus the original Yammie spanner for the rear wheel spindle bolt are all that's needed.

I think I'd add a 13mm spanner to that list, cos Yamaha are fond of using 12mm nuts on M8 threads, but they're likely to get replaced with 13mm nuts as time goes on
