So, they arrived, I've fitted them... a ride report will follow tomorrow once I've ridden it to work. I can certainly say straight from the off just from bouncing it up and down on the driveway, that they feel absolutely different. I'm quite looking forward to having a go. Can someone with access to the Haynes (Not on this computer) please tell me if 145-146mm is within service length on the front springs for a 96 bike?

According to Mr Haynes: Fork spring length for 92-97 UK models is; Standard - 476.5mm, Minimum - 471.5mm. For 98 on UK models; Standard - 341mm,Minimum - 334 mm.

Sorry, that's me forgetting over the space of time it took to put my tools away. In fact I just measured them at @474mm against a straight edge, so a bit worn but still within limits. The thing that interested me is visible in that picture above - look how many more coils the Hagon spring has! They are also of a thicker metal, surprisingly enough.
I took a 10 mile test ride around town (otherwise known as popping out for some fuel ready for work tomorrow). First impressions: front rides noticably higher, I will probably need to adjust the headlight. It's noticably firmer, in a good way. The bike will now change directions without confusing the forks. To see what I mean, try weaving left to right at say 50+ and see/feel what the forks are doing. Same effect was previously noticable just when rounding a smaller roundabout at speed, or trying to change to left on a bigger faster roundabout. They just don't do it anymore on mine.
It has lost some of the magic-carpet ride quality, but Portsmouth's roads are pretty bad in places so it may just be down to that. To balance that out, it doesn't bottom out on potholes anymore, or under hard or sudden braking.
Hagon recommend 7.5w oil with 150mm air gap. I have 10k old 10w in there with what a quick measure showed to be about a 150mm air gap (standard gap must be about that then?). It does feel a bit over-damped - when did you ever hear that said about an early 600?! - but not excessively badly, and it may just be my first impression due to the stark comparison. I will give it a few more miles before I decide whether to go to the extra effort and expense of removing and draining the forks. If I do that I'd hate myself if I didn't fit drain bolts, and I don't need the hassle! Then again, I probably have all tools and spares except for two M6 copper washers.
So, all in: on top of the brake master, this is another top mod you can do to your divvy for minimal money!
I'll post here again later with a longer-term review.

Thing is, if/when I sell/break the bike, they'll be worth what, £30 back? So to me, that's excellent value. I'd quite like to meet another member and compare back to back, and let that member do the same so that my results can be verified. Anyone near Portsmouth?

Can't offer the comparison as I don't have a Divvy any more. But you could make your way to the Sussex Run this weekend to give it a nice road-test .
