ok so being my usual environemtally friendly self, i purchased a rack that kind of fitted my new divvy and with a little welding drilling priming and painting she looks lovely ( my missis says its coz im tight but i dont think its true). I have purchased a set of these ittle red LEDs in a small plastic housing from halfords ( i think they were meant for posing in your escort but they were in the clearance bit). If i wire it up to the wire running to my breaklight from my fusebox (its a fused wire) wil they only cvome on when i brake? if they will my plan is to build them into the rack.

If they are sold to be directly connected into the wiring they should work just like filament bulbs.
But if you want to be really sure you could fit a DC to DC voltage converter box from Tandy or Maplins. They cost about a £5 and have various DC output options. IIRC** 12V is one of the options.
** I have a pair of 4.5 volt LED spot lamps on the front of my 900 and the converter box does a fine job.

You need power from the brake light wire and an earth to a suitable frame bolt. The power wire can be scotchlocked on but do it where rain and salt can't get at it.
BTW, how do you intend to hide the LED wires? They will be a serious hassle to fertle through the cariier frame and will look carp simply strapped on the outside.

plan is to drill small holes in the rack at the front and send wires through to the end where they go down by the seat ( there are littl plastic lugs and its a straight line) and then pop 2 holes in the little lugs at teh end. plan is to work out wiring holes before spraying rack.

I made my own side case rack using 5/8" od steel tube. When I was sure it wasnt going to break, had it powder coated. £10 - bargain. :-)
