" I've got a work of art designed by the bloke who did the gas dynamics for the German Messersmitt 262 jet engine and invented the 2 stroke expansion chamber exhaust. Top guy. " His name was Walter Kaaden. Two stroke aficiionados everywhere should erect a 10 foot statue of him in Japan and make Suzuki top brass worship at it on the anniversary of his death every year. I think the suzuki guys probably do - it was directly down to him that they won their first world champeenship.

Absolutely. Barry Sheen indirectly owed his title (& metal legs) to Kaaden. I meant if the designer had defected rather than or as well as the race rider, how much more would have been done with Suzuki's money. Who remembers the MZ race riders name. Not many I'd think. Sorry, hijackled the threadle, but 2 strokes are more fun than Dulux paint pot test patches.

Agree about Kaaden and heartily recommend the book "The MZ Story" by Mick Walker (as recommended by Covertcodger). The story of DKW has everything.

The MZ rider who defected with the family silver was Ernst Degner. Suzuki did approach Kaaden first actually but he told them to Foxtrot Oscar. I agree, what would he have achieved if he had gone to Japan. They say that Sheene's Suzuki race engine:500 cc. square four 2 stroke was nothing more than four MZ 125 cc pots joined at the hip.

Just think.. Kaaden inventing the clean-burn diesel two stroke.....There's a thought....with what he knew about exhaust scavenging and squish bands we would all be riding them! And would the ozone layer be quite so depleted?

Only problem would be the power pulses through the spannies - they would be much more powerful, and potentially liable to putting your back out.Now if he had invented a clever way of manipulating bones and joints to alleviate said problems, he would truly be a genius.

Easy... Get yourself an ETZ 250 and bolt the rubber mounting up solid. Vibes like that will fix anything ;D ;D
