Re your pictures. As has already been stated there is a good chance that your pictures are still on your hard drive and recoverable.
There are a lot of peeps in this club who might be able to help recover them.
One of the main things though is to use your PC as little as possible ( and that DOES include surfing the web ) untill it can be seen if the data is recoverable as your activities could result in the parts of the hard drive where the photographs were stored, being overwritten.
Can you give brief description of how you lost the photos.

Good call, Pooh. There is a reasonable chance that much can be salvaged. Depends if the drive spins up or not, though :-(

I've been on the blower to John half the morning. The problem hes got is his cdrom/dvd drives have disappeared from 'My Computer' I've run through with him the usual checking their in BIOS (they are), removing and scanning for new hardware in device manager (which finds them but with the exclamation mark - error 39) , and running the fix on microsofts website (didn't fancy talking him through editing the registry directly). Its a known problem. Fix didn't work - (cheers Gates ya t******) so I'll remove his drive and copy it onto a spare. He suggested using his system restore disk, but I advised that some of them wipe system clean and reinstall. I'll get his HDD backed up via my PC and then we can reinstall. Seems hes got loads of software on there he doesnt need or know what it is so could do with a thorough sorting out anyway. JOHN - get a mobile that doesnt cut out every five mins ! ;D Ady P.S. Hi Pooh, The photos are still on the pc. I'm getting some very good advice on the matter from Ady (Apicot) Thanks Ady  I have no access to the cd and dvd writters. We tryed a way of fixing it but it now looks like I'm going to have to reformat. Right now all my thoughts are with Dave and Denise as I'm sure is the case for everyone. How is you and your bike going Pooh? I saw a Divvy9 that was nearly as clean as yours on the IOW run! John |

It sounds like Ady's got the situation well sussed re your pictures etc and you are in good hands.

Sorted it. Thank god. Re-walked through each step with John and voila, CD burner and DVD drive back again.
Make mental note on paper - JTB owes 5 pints Guinness ;D

Even after a reformat it is possible to get stuff back. Just make sure that for safety reasons you have your drive formated into 2 partitions, that way you can install windows again and not worry too much.
Even better is to add a 2nd drive, very easy (have had 5 in mine at one point) that way save everything to that and you can do whatever you need to the other drive.
Getdataback is the software i use, and cough cough it can be had very easy.
