had a test ride on the BMW 1200 gt this model is £11,000 plus and let me tell you folks not as quick as my 2001 fjr not as comfy ( seat was rock hard )
the things i did like where the linked front brakes , cruise control, and that was it
think i`m spoiled now having the fjr can`t beat this bike for pure power would definitely get a new one when this is paid for ,
mind looking forward to the new kwaka

Go with the new FJR it has linked brakes they are ace for slowing the old Gal down when fully banked over and realising you are going a tad to fast in the corner not as I have ever done that you understand. Oh and the new brakes are a hole lot more powerfull than the ones you have on yours, didn`t think they could achive it but they have. And I will be testing the cruise control I have just fitted (£50) will let you know what it`s like.

I thought the 1200GT was a sports tourer. Maybe German bikes are like German cars (VW/Audi anyway) with really tight engines for the first few thousand miles and not properly run in until 10,000. I had a new A4 diesel back about 2002 which stalled horribly when new. But sorted by 2000miles, seemed nice and free by 5000 and better again by 10,000.

The 1200 GT is one of my dream bikes. Of course I will not be able to afford, so please don't shatter this dream for me. A man needs dreams. Tell me that the GT is the cat's meow, and well worth the 11k basic, and that high tech front end, traction control and suspension changes on the fly make it the best sports touring bike in the world. trust me on this the fjr out performs the gt anyday
after the test was very pleased with my now older fjr
have a test on both and you will go for the fjr
if you have never ridden an fjr you will be very impressed with pure performance the bike rocks

yes the narrow boat is a shade longer ;D Not having ridden a 1200GT, can't say about the performance but if it's like other beemers, it'll be utterly disappointing and mindlessly boring.FJRs at least have a bit of get up and go (not quite as arm-wrenchingly fast as a Fazer...) and plenty of luggage space for cardies, incontinence pads and toupees.
