I've checked out the discussions on these and people seem to like them. I get pains in the hips after an hour or so on the Divvie 900. The problem is better with bar risers but still there. Does anyone know if the Corbin and corbin style seats improve the situation.
I can't tell if its the high footrests (seat deffo not low) or the shape of the seat. I'm beginning to suspect its the standard seat shape is throwing my hips forward and increasing lumbar back curvature.
But I dont want risk the costs of a Corbin or similar to find the problem is no better or even worse.
Any ideas folk?

I've got a Corbin seat. The main thing I found was it stopped the numb bum and lower back ache. Although the seat is not higher, it is wider so legs don't touch the ground as easily, but this is not noticable when riding. I never had aches from the hips so cannot comment about that.
I think your footrests are low enough already if you are grounding them out before getting to the edge of the tyre, so I would not lower them if I were you.
You could try an airhawk seat cover. This would give a softer seat and also raise you (they are about 1" thick from memory), changing the angle of the hip.
Alternatively, get rid of the bar risers and push the bars forwards to get more leant forward riding position. This will help correct the lumbar curvature (although leant forward, the lower spine will bend the right way and have less weight on it) and possibly help with the hip problem. It will possibly cause wrist ache though.

I wasn't planning on dropping the footrests modern tyres are far too good to be wasted like that :-)
I dont really get numb bum problems but after 35,000 miles the seat foam is probably softened. I tried the bar raisers to see if they improved things and for me the problem is less bad than the standard bar setting. I already tried it with the bars forward. I prefer the up and wide trail bike type position, though the Divvie bars are otherwise standard.
I find if I squeeze my abs to push my hips back (straightening spine) the ache in left hip is reduced. So I'm suspicious the seat is tipping the pelvis forward.
I had similar problems on an MZ 250 some years ago. I could ride it for no more than 10 mins and could feel my back being forced forward. Yet the same day, an Aprilia Pegaso was usable all day. The Aprilia is sit up style the MZ is leaned forward and has funny footrests that are high but forward.
The best test would be to test ride a Corbin type for a couple of hours and see what happens. Dropping footrests isnt an option.

Sounds like you need to try something other than a Divvy....

What you could do with is letting a physio look at your riding position first to see where you need the adjustment, where in the universe is your abode? (unless that is your nickname gives ur job away???)

I'm well placed to get the all the postural advice I could ever need. The snag is they'll probably say stop riding the bike and buy an Audi with super adjustable sports seats. You know how dentists (sorry) medics are about bikes. :-) Nasty, dangerous death traps that we love so much. I would have a BMW GS, but funds (even without the kettle) dont go that far). I'll check out the seat makers they might even have one I can test ride. Thanks Mind you... I have to come up with an idea for my dissertation survey. Could be the germ of one brewing here..
