Hi guys an gals, had me test today and bloody failed. i couldnt belive it and was gobsmaked when examiner told me. i honestly thought id passed with flying colours. the examiner said i had been going wide on left turns, even tough i never went over the central white line , or any where near it. what makes it worse he was following in a car so how could have a good enough view of the road to see? any way, im gonna retake me test on a 125, ( i was gonna do that anyway until me instucter persuded me to do otherwise) does anyone know where i can get a restictor kit from, prefrably a cheap one as i belive its just a washer any way, of the correct dimensions.
either that or ill flog the divvy and get summit smaller like a shadow or summit like that.
anyideas ?
cheers guys

First off, bad luck but don't be down hearted. It could happen to anybody. Re-apply as soon as you can.
Re the restrictor, there are a few members who may be able to help you out in that direction. Failing that have a look on ebay. Good luck for the future.

I cannot see why you should now drop to a 125 test as all you failed on was position. This is not a size issue (oh-errr ) you say you handles the bike ok You have to take another test no matter what so learn from this and retake on a 500.

Don't give up. They test form a score card, good/bad with no genuine criticism of your overall skills.
I failed my first test (admittedly much easier in those days) and was really annoyed. I retook the test and in my own mind was still pi**ed off & treated it with contempt. That took away all the pressure & nerves and I passed no problem. So my suggestion is try the same mental trick. As long as you really are good enough (and your instructor wont let you apply if you are not) you'll pass.
Also, I'll bet they don't have failure quotas to meet. Probably your unlucky day.

Sorry to hear that hun.
Like everyone else says....get that test re-booked asap and do it on the 500cc. When you're on the next one...sit between the centre of the lane and the white line, either central or outside edge, when you're on the straight and then move to the outside of a bend just before you get to it. I'm surprised they failed you on positioning to be honest. Sounds like he was struggling to find summin to fail you on!
As chirodave said....go into the next test with the attitude that you've already failed and that'll help you to relax and enjoy the ride more...should pass it then! ;D

I failed my first test on emergency stop even though i stopped miles infront of the examiner. I thought i had to stop before i hit him, but apprently you have to stop as far away as possible. I know now...

ay up he said it was me position on left hand turns, too much of a gap between me and kerb, although the instuctor never even said it was a problem, lol i struggled a bit with the bike to be honest, a kwakker er6n, a brand new one and found the throttle to be quite course at low speed. mmm maybe im just makin excuses lol. If i do decide to retake ill do it on the divvy i think. The girl who was doing the test before me dropped hers on the walk round u turn, and also about an hour before turning right on a main road witch rattled me a bit, as the car driver she turned in front of never even stopped. ah well take it on the chin eh

Lee like most about I failed first time as well. Mainly for a huge wobble on turning left on a blind bend but he also mentioned about the fact that I was too close to the centre line on a left bend. Examiners like things just right and your instructor should help you with everything listed on your sheet. You are normally allowed a couple of minor incidents per aspect of the test so this must have been repeated a few times for him to be really picky. Don't go backwards on this as your instructor thinks your good enough to do this on a 500 plus bike so keep at it. You will see the dividends later. its important to be relaxed, controlled and not flustered by some plank (examiner) just ride your ride. Everyone above has given you good advice now get your application in for your retake so 11 days time you can do it again.

Ditto all the previous posts. I failed first time when the test was much easier and the examiner walked round..... failed on incorrect positioning at corners. Took it again and breezed it (although I did use the lucky bike that all me mates had passed the test on - a MTX125 - them were the days...) Go for it, young padawan.... and as it's star wars day.... May the 4th be with you ;D

All good advice from experienced bikers above. Just be determined to show them on your retake. And use the bike you are most comfortable with.
Good Luck

Failing that my SO has a Yamaha OE restrictor kit for the later '96+ Divvy 600. £25 sound ok? You can reach me on: 0774six 8eight572O.

Hi, Bad luck on the test When i did my test in 2000 i did a lesson just before the test which finished with turning up at the test centre. Kids had just come out of school and were crossing(faffing about) at a junction where i wanted to turn left so I stayed quite wide. My instructor blasted up inside and undertook my on the junction When we stopped he said " if you leave that much room you will fail !! dont leave enough room for someone (motor or pushbike) to come up the inside. His rap on the knuckles had the desired effect and i didnt drift wide for the test. good luck and go for it ;D Adbru
