I (we) have decided to get a topbox for the Divvy 600.
The reasons are
To stop her who is, or any subsequent person who wants to travel with me, falling off when I forget to release the clutch slowly.
Summat to put the helmets in when her who is spots a nice frock in a shop window.
Summat to put the said frock in when she buys it (oh and a 4pt carton of milk when we run out)
I have seen the Givi monoloc and E450 (thought was a dermalogical cream) box to help solve the problem.
What say you all?
Cheers
Paul

Sounds good.
My top box is not big enough to get both helmets in, can about squease one in, but since it had a trip down the road (quick release is great...) on its own. THe bolts holding in in place are a bit OTT.

Ignore the manufacturer's blurb which says a topbox will take two helmets. When I bought my Givi box I took the precaution of taking our two helmets (Cabergs) to the shop. They wouldn't fit in a 46 ltr box and I had to get a 52 ltr. However, the boxes come in different styles which may well make a difference to what will fit in. Best course is to take your helmets and try them before buying. Having said that, Givis are a quality item and are sturdy and waterproof in my experience.

Having said that, Caberg lids are physically gert.Jools takes a small helmet, and her caberg is physically smaller than my Suomy, and I have a large one.

I have a Non-Fango kit on my turquiose 600 and a givi kit on my grey 600. Here's my evaluation of both. Non-Fango: - Cheaper to buy new than Givi
- Lightweight tubular framework
- Fairly simple system to fit
- Boxes are fairly sturdy, but not as sturdy as Givi.
- Locks need regular oiling as they are prone to seize
- Comments have been made about the boxes appearing to wobble on their mounts, however I have not found it to be a problem.
- Italian company, recently rescued from receivership, so availability of parts may be restricted.
Givi: - A bit more expensive new than Non-Fango, but easier to find on ebay
- Wingrack is pretty heavy making the bike heavy to push around
- Fairly simple system to fit
- Reflective stripes on the boxes (the ones I have anyway)
- Greater choice of accesories and access to them (plenty of UK stockists)
If you choose a full 3 box system you can expect clearance problems if you have a Motad exhaust whichever luggage system you choose, the solution to this is simply a bracket to lower the silencer just enough to prevent it damaging the panniers. I have never had a problem fitting two helmets in either of my topboxes, however helmets with protruding vents can be awkward (eg OGK) and I have a particularly small head (size 51cm) so theres plenty of room left for another helmet and even a small amount of other junk (small toolkit, cloth for wiping the seat if it rains, waterproof trousers, that kind of thing). Remember when fitting the framework for your luggage, put all the bolts in very loosely, then tighten them up once it is all fitted together or you may have some problems with alignment. Doof

Thanks Doof, all valuable when evaluating the products around, Givi seems in the lead for my Turquiose 600

Why go to the expense of Givi when Kappa will do the job. I've got a 52 ltr Kappa on the XJR which is in use every day. It takes our two helmets with ease plus a few other bits we manage to sqeeze in. like I said its used every day and has rarely come off the bike in two years. Still in good nick and still watertight.

So far I can get the 2 Givi units for (monoloc & E450) for £150, not seen Kappa cheaper (yet!!!)

That is a good price. I got two Kappa cases for £160 and thought that was good... Humbug. My bro (who lives over there) say's Kappa cases are made in the same factory as Givi stuff. The Kappa company is run by the Givi boss's daughter. Her initial is K. Kappa is Itallian for K.

If you look on fleabay extend your searches to include europe - there are a couple of good suppliers over there who are happy to deal with us and postage is not too expensive either. I bought my new Givi boxes & a used Kappa top box that way and mount it all on my D9 on SW-Motech racks - again bought from Germany. All cheaper than anywhere here. I chose SW-Motech because after taking the boxes off, the frame is quickly (5 seconds a side) removable leaving the bike looking nice & streamlined as it was meant to be.

Givi are now making tubular side frames. Do they pull the cases in closer to the bike and are they as solid as the old Wing Rack. Which is well solid and strongly made.
The Givi monorack my 600 the top plate says "max load 10kg". So officially topbox and padlock = fully loaded. Good job nobody told mine it cant carry loads of stuff and still come back for more.

Well the decision has been made, gone for Givi monoloc plus topbax and backrest. I didnt want the side panniers as I can use my sons soft luggage if need be.
Thanks for all ur help and wise input.

I have an older Givi that looks like El_Bandito's but without the silver trim. It will take a BMW System 5 and a Rayven - both are flip fronts.

Might be worth trying M&P or Hein Gericke in uk and see what delivery would cost. PS, my brother has similar problems in Italy.
