This morning's commute .... Me = Travelling South, national speed limit. (Honest!) Car = Travelling North, national speed limit. (I would guess!) About to safely pass by each other. 'ickle baby wabbit bouncing around on the northbound side of the road, in near the verge. Me = I've spotted 'ickle wabbit. Reckon it'll be fine unless car purposefully veers left to hit it. Hope it doesn't bounce out any further though . Car = Driver sees 'ickle wabbit. Veers right to provide increased safety margin. Me = craps myself, all anchors dropped. Fishtail gently, & gracefully veer to my left. Much by accident than design, really. Car = Content with ensuring continued survival of wabbit population, straightens up, moves back over to own side of the road, proceeds North. Me = Considers what we have learnt this morning. Hopes it's that car driver was sorry, and that she didn't see me. Ponders instead whether she did see me, but considered wabbit survival was paramount. If I should claim no greater right to life than a 'ickle wabbit, fair enough I suppose. But car driver could have least shown some consideration for my tyres .

National speed limit ? on that road on a day like this ? yer, right.... And I'm glad you accept that the wabbit has as much of a right to life as us yoomans, but if it's not clever enough to either get out of the way or drive a car big enough to protect it, then tough. That's survival of the fittest at work, that is.

Best to only avoid obstacles bigger than the vehicle that you are driving e.g. Deer, Dogs (1). Anything smaller is just tough luck.
1 Dogs have to be report to Plod if involved in an accident.

That's usually cos they make a huge mess of ya vehicle and someone may report you for mowing down little old ladies in Brighton!! ;D

I was in the car once, driving down a country lane... no-one else about. A little wren was in the road... I moved right to avoid the little fella... and then he did the same. Agree animals do have same right to be here as us. Just a shame we can't inject some common sense into them - to stay off the roads.

Having had the pleasure of smacking a rabbit in my car, Well it tasted nice in a stew afterwards ;D. I still try to avoid them as they can make a hell of a mess to the front spoliers/number plates etc. Having seen a few cars that have hit deers/sheep. Avoiding them is something that you really do need to do.... Unless that other option is a dry stone wall. or some other tin can....

To hell with it ... if they're smaller than I am and on the road, I go through 'em!
What do worry me are kangaroos and (lately) emus. There seems to be more and more of 'em -- despite the screams by the animal huggers that we're making them extinct! (yeah, right)
Something that size will ruin your whole day.
