New to the group , so hello to everybody from essex
I've had a D-900 for a few years with 75,000 on the clock. I've recently noticed I lose about 10 miles of travel distance when I fill my tank up. Before I could get 180 before the low petrol light comes on, now it comes on after about 165 miles. I do the same travel distance l everyday at around 80mph on the motorway
I noticed that two of the downpipe caskets are blowing, could this be the issue, or maybe I should be looking at something else.
Thanks for any help on this
dxtans.

Firsavetly, welcome.... Secondly - you don't say which gaskets - is it the ones at the head, or the collector box ones ?.I would expect a slight drop off in performance if the exhaust gaskets at the head end are blowing.Would be worth pulling the plugs to see what the mixture's doing - at the sort of mileage you have, there could be issues with the carbs (emulsion tubes prolly worn by now, causing the mixture to turn rich).

Hi,
Sorry forgot to mention that.
It's the gaskets at the top of the downpipes ( head)

The blowing pipe gaskets wont help, but if they are going to be a pig to fix its worth looking for other stuff first. 1 Has the problem happened suddenly? It might well be the plugs but they tend to go off gradually. 2 Have you possibly moved the throttle position sensor. Setting it properly on my (low mileage) 600 went from average 45mpg to 55mpg. See diversionclub.proboards74.com/index.cgi?board=techarticles&action=display&thread=1171575324After that I'd look at the carbs. Internal wear, split diaphragms are all likely. PS Dont forget the brakes. Binding pads wont help, apart from the risk of warped discs etc.
