Eager to hear if it's worked. I have a taller Skidmarx screen on my Divvy6 and have been contemplating something similar (smaller holes in front of the clocks)

Mr Pooh - you're a very brave man ! I tried the same with my superflip on the divvy - and ended up wrecking the screen. Lots of radial cracks and shards of plastic everywhere. Roger

Report having done about 200 miles yesterday. Has it made any difference? The trouble with this is that it's very subjective and in the absence of empirical data I'll try to sum up. Yes.Purely in the interests of research I tried speeds from 1 to 110 ( kph officer) It's not a huge difference but there is definitely an improvement. I still get a degree of buffeting at speed but I reckon I need about an extra 1" to 1 1/2" on the screen to solve that. It was worth the agg of doing. Here's Pooh's quick guide to drilling big holes in your screen - Work out in advance where you're going to be making the holes. Seems obvious but don't guess it. Measure to keep it looking balanced.
- TAKE THE SCREEN OFF
- Get a mate or your missus ( could be one and the same ) to hold the bloody thing which leaves both your hands free for the frontal assault
- make a stand or support that will keep the screen secure during the assault. I used some left over polystyrene blocks from the new washing machine covered in a towel.
- Cover the hole area and LOTS of the surrounding area with good quality masking tape, not the crappy pound shop stuff.
- I used a battery powered drill at low speed to give me good control
- Drill a small pilot hole to start things off
- get a hole cutter Ahh the smell of burning acrylic.
- TAKE YOUR TIME - IT'S NOT A RACE
- Cut the main holes using hole saw at a fairly low speed trying to keep as square as possible to the the screen ( mate comes in handy here as well )
- Assuming no disasters you will now have some nice big holes in your screen. They will be a bit rough though. Time to dig out the dremmel. Get a small sanding wheel on and very lightly go round the cut surface smoothing out all the grooves and crappy stuff. The key is to go lightly and take your time.
- You now have some nice smooth holes but the acrylic will be cloudy and have a gazillion small scratches on the inside of the holes. If you want them nice and clear like the rest of your screen you need to get your buffing/polishing wheel on the dremmel. I used my trusty Autosol to shine the cut surfaces up. Watch out though because you are polishing acrylic and it does heat up very easily. I had a spray bottle of water that I used to keep things cool. My dremmel has speed settings from 1 to 6. I had it on 2. You do not need 50,000 rpm to polish acrylic.
- You're nearly done. At the end of this stage both you and the screen will be covered in a load of water / autosol / dust / bits of plastic. To save scratching the screen to hell I took it up to the shower and gently gave it a shampoo.
- Dry, polish and refit. You're done

You know, believe it or not, when I was writing the post I spotted that obvious one but thought, nah, no one, unless they were in serious need of Guiness, or curry would stoop to that level.
Go and get a beer and a curry young man ;D ;D
