you won't believe this but I've managed to drop a headlamp bulb INSIDE the hlamp unit Yeah.. I know. Question is how do I get the headlamp unit out? Do I have to take off the fairing? Hope not as the 'screwy things' are going round and round! Found two brass nuts eitehr side of the hl unit, undid them but nothing seemed any easier to move.. HELP! I got another bulb in but having one floating around isn't the best idea I think. And can changing a bulb be any trickier? Any tricks / hints?

you could try a big blob of blutack (worked well by hand to warm it up) on a stick to retrieve the one inside. as for changing the bulb i just put my bike on full lock and stick my hand up from underneath, you could take the tank off for a little more light but don't think it will improve access.

I just messed around until I got enough space to get my fingers in (!) Lost a bit of skin, but it is possible to get the bulb out without removing anything Charlie

If like me you've got mitts like hams, trying fishing it out with a bit of wire with an 'L' bend on it, worked for me!
Next time put a thin bit of wire or thread through the hole in the connector tab, before entering the bulb. ;D

thin bit of wire, fuse wire perhaps, and happy fishing.
I put a bit of string through one of the three prongs on H4's, it can then be hauled out if you manage to push it through, hth

Last time I saw this happen, on a 125 Varadero, the errant bulb was retrieved with a large plastic spoon.

Come on boys and girls, use your heads. Its prongs are made of steel. How do we retrieve dropped things that are made of steel? That's right.

well.. is it made of steel?? I tried a magnetised screwdriver but found no point of attraction.. Of course the tricky angle doesn't help. I'm SO looking forward to saturday when we can lose each others' tempers trying to get this camel through the eye of the needle!

well.. is it made of steel?? Yes. But I guess the angles are the problem. Have you tried a lump of blu-tack on a poking-stick?

Try a length of thread or thin wire doubled into a stiff tube making a noose at one end. Slip loop over the bulb then pull the threads to tighten the noose. Or see if the 10 year old from next door can reach it.

the 10 yr old wanted too much money tried blutak but couldn't get a good grip; bought a twisty magnety thing and managed to get it out ;D Well, to be fair, 'He' did and then 'He' went on to finally fit the HID conversion. Got nice bright, white light now! Thanks for your help!
