After another person has moaned about the brightness (or lack of it) of my rear indicators, I thought I had better do something about it.
Looking around, I cannot find any big indicators that have a short stem (I have panniers so cannot use the standard indicators) and everyone seems to sell only mini indicators (already on there) or the LED ones.
So, does anybody know of some big indicators with small stems (10cms (4") max from bolt to end of indicator) and a location to buy them? A model of bike with such indicators would be a good start.
Alternatively, if I put LED indicators on the back only, will this mess up the flash rate? Will one of those boxes to make the indicators flash at the right rate work OK if the front indicators are still bulb style? Any other ideas (other than arm signals!)?
Thanks in advance

I have a pair of mounts for standard indicators, to affix to your Givi rails if you want to get some stock Fazer indicators....

The D6 rear / D9 front looked bright enough on my 600 with panniers.
However, on the font I fitted a pair of small rectangular indicators from Hein Gericke. They used 20watt halogen bulbs and are very bright. They are however quite cheaply made so need to be opened up and the internals stuck in with silicone. I used white bathroon sealer and allowed t to cure fully. The lamps worked fine with no problems.
The bulbs are a bit of an odd fitting with offset pins so worth getting a spare pair.
I personally think LEDs are the best. Very bright and the sharp attack makes them really stand out. But they will mess up the flash rate so either get a flasher that works independant of the bulb wattage or you can get adapter units. See M&P, Busters, etc.
The snag on a tourer will be getting LED units to sit far enough away from the rear light.

Do these fit to the rails for the panniers (which come off from time to time) or to the main top box bit? Are you free tonight so I can call for more details? PS - remind me about your lead! (sorry, still got it).

See M&P, Busters, etc. Will the adapter work with bulbs at the front and LEDs at the read? The snag on a tourer will be getting LED units to sit far enough away from the rear light. Is there some reason they cannot sit as far away from the rear light as bulbs, or do they have to sit further away than bulbs? Thanks for your help.

They fit to the top box rails - so you can remove the side rails if that helps you feel 'cool' . BTW - Where's my battery leads?? I'm free tonight - prob the best offer I'll get

I thought the point of indicators was to be visible. If they are placed properly and are really bright the size isnt important or you could get some Hella fog lamps and paint em yellow.
