Hi Guys, I have just replaced both sets of pads on the front of my 99 Divvy 600S The pads on the nearside caliper had plenty of meat on them, on the offside caliper one has about 2mm of meat left. the other was down to the metal. I have examined the discs and they both are in the same condition, some grooving but I deblieve acceptable, anyone got any ideas as to why the difference, unless someone previously has only replaced one side? Incidentally on the garage floor after I had finished the job was a flat rubber washer, about the size of a half inch tap washer but a little thinner. If this came from anywhere on the bike it would have been from the offside caliper as I noticed it before taking the nearside one off and there wasn't any rubber washer on that one. I can't remember anything on reaper's dvds about a flat rubber washer! Any ideas of mechanical gods? Peter

uneven wear could be due one side binding slightly there has to have been friction somewhere for one side to wear down b4 the other,i cannot understand why they would replace one side and not the other but with some of the things i have seen done to bikes i am past being suprised u could try putting the one caliper back on and spin the wheel just to see how tight it is

My Divvie 600 back brake did that. One piston was sticking. The only option was to rebuild the caliper. Aluminium corrosion crud had built up under the rubber piston seal and was gradually jamming the piston.

Agree with Peebles. Sounds like it's been binding, take them off one at a time and give it a spin, that should tell you if it is or not.
also if you still have you old pads stick them between the pads on the caliper thats off, and test the one left on to see if they are working as they should be.
As for the rubber washer, I don't think it's off your brakes, could have been lodged somewhere and fell out when you removed said caliper.
