Hi all, new to the site, new to Yamahas and new to motorbikes in general. Ive just bought a non runner 600 diversion that has blown the O ring out between the oil cooler adaptor plate and the adaptor itself.
On the surface it looks an easy fix, but I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this or is there some other issue that has caused the o ring to fail in the first place?
Any thoughts or advice most welcome.
Thanks
Dave

That is unusual so it would indicate that someone has taken it off before or replaced the cooler/pipes. A good clean up and replacing the O ring should sort it. The oil doesn't run under very high pressure so the O ring 'blowing' is unlikely.

I removed the cooler on mine completely. The O-ring was 100% fine to re-use, same story from another user on another board. www.bikersoracle.com/yamahadiversion/forum/showthread.php?t=1032&page=2&pp=10It's more likely to have dried out and failed that way than "popped". When you go to do the job you will need a 30 (32?) mm socket to remove the union bolt part 10. Don't start the job without the tools in front of you as you won't be able to do it. A spanner won't do, you need a socket and relatively long bar. O-ring part number: 932-10877-23 - O-RING(1KF)

Thanks for the advice guys, replaced both o-rings - the adapter plate was slightly warped so wasn't seating all the way round - I suspect that allowed the oring to get squeezed out. (Sorted that with some fairly brutal bush engineering we wont go into!) The bike has had a front end smash at some point in it's life maybe the oil filter area took a hit from the front wheel. Anyway starts and runs ok just now, we'll have to wait and see if it lasts cheers
