I put one on an MZ 250 it was calibrated for tyre circumference and when checked against a GPS was spot on accurate which was fine for most speed limits. However, it had a slow signal update so when accelerating it lagged behind the true speed and it never read more than 65mph. I attached the magnet with double sided weatherproof tape. Similar to the stuff supplied with heated grip controllers for fairing mounting. Attaching the pick-up sensor involved much head scratching and fiddling with bits of tin, plastic and zip ties. I tried a Halfords wireless type, but the signal from the sensor was blocked by the front fork triple clamps, so that had to go back.

they are the same ones that i fitted and definatly worth buying
i glued the magnet right next to one of the disc mounting bolts on the front disc, using JB weld then cable tied the sensor to the fork in the apropriate place, and using more to tidy the cable up the brake line still working after 3000miles and it will read to a speed higher than any divvie can do, trust me ;D

Oops, I wasn't knocking the Aldi kit only that my Halfords jobbie maxed out at 65ish (100Ks maybe). Bicycle speedo/computers are really handy on a motorbike.
Shame the wireless ones wont work (usually). I had one on a pushbike and it would only work on the LH bar. Presume there was much metal in the way for RH bar mounting.

Well I trundled up to Aldi's this morning and got one (or two..) As suggested I mounted the magnet on the brake disc, measured the circumference of the tyre at 1890mm and gave it a test. very close in calibration to my GPS and about 6% below the speedo reading. Didnt realise that it does air temp as well ;D Well chuffed, neatly mounted (by my standards ) and seems to work a treat. While I was there I got chatting to the manager who let slip that they are expecting the bike gear back insoon. This time it wont be advertised and the prices will be marked down ;D ;D ;D So may be worthwhile stopping in at your local store on the off chance over the next few weeks. Many thanks for your help Ian. cheers Adbru

speedo readings have never been the same as any gps i have used on any car, they seem to be 4mph faster than gps reads when at 70mph, so i would say your bike mate is spot on true speed.
