hi guys i,m struggling to remove my front brake pads of my divvy 2000 xj600 n is there a clip or somthing i need to remove ive took the caliper off aswell but the pads wont budge n i dont want to force them ?( please help as this is my first bike and my exp is basic) cheers terry123

You need to take this out then the two halves of the caliper swing open allowing you get at the brake pads. Hth Trev

hi hth trev i have took that bolt out raised it upwards and tried to prise the pads out with a screwdriver they did, nt budge so i undid the two main caliper bolts lifted off the whole unit but the pads are still tight is there a relief clip at the bottom of the caliper or is that a anti vibe thing terry

Hi Terry,pads will probably need to be pushed outwards to force the cylinders back a wee bit into the caliper.After that a bit of wiggling them about should loosen them up,they are a tight enough fit when clean but there will probably be a fair bit of muck around the pads making them even tighter and the grease which should be on the edges of the pads will likely be dried up,also the paint which is on the back and side of the pads when they are new can loosen up making them a tighter fit.

thanks guys for the advice i was trying to slide the pads out when i should of been pulling them away from the disk job is now complete and brakes are spot on although the previous owner has fitted divvi 900 calipers to the rear of the 600 as my new pads are too small according to wemoto who supplied the pads ?? cheers Terry
