Should be more of a celebration of all things English. All the others Brits make a big deal of it, & they've got nothing to crow about ;D

It's true, we do'nt make enough of our National Day.
But I think things are changing. There is a different feeling now in England, people are actually proud to be English and are not embarrassed to say so.
Now if you have an English Flag on your car/bike (I have) you are not looked on as a racist.
My local market (Romford) on Saturday was festooned with the flag of St George, there was marching bands and a stall was running a petition to get St Georges Day made a Bank Holiday.
We are on the march mate! Engerland, Engerland, Engerland!!
;D ;D ;D

chirodave, you misread what I wrote. I meant that the other British countries make a big deal of their own patron saints days.

All the others Brits make a big deal of it, & they've got nothing to crow about ;D He wasn`t English or even British he was from Anatolia, now modern day Turkeyand. And he is also the patron Saint of Canada, Catalonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Montenegro, Portugal, Serbia, the cities of Istanbul, Ljubljana and Moscow, as well as a wide range of professions, organisations and disease sufferers. Feel some smites coming my way.

He wasn`t English or even British he was from Anatolia, now modern day Turkeyand. You have completely missed the point, of this thread and St Georges Day celebrations. It's not St George but England that we take pride in. It's our National Day that we celebrate, as do the Scots, the Irish and the Welsh.

Sorry guys, missed this thread yesterday.
Just like to say there's not that much of a big deal on St Andrews day either. I'm proud to be Scottish everyday.
I can see why St Patrick's day is so popular down there though, got to be better than claiming you're English.
Could I be the first to -1000 Karma after that.

When you are young, single, drank a shed full of beer and have a field full of sheep, what more could you want. These days I'm old, married, kids, can't afford beer and there is not a sheep in sight. Ah well........memories ;D
