Today I found a breather pipe (?) on the left hand side of the bike that seems to come down from the air box past the front of the front sprocket cover and down from there.
I am assuming it is a breather pipe but it has a hard black plastic cylinder halfway down (looks like a small fuel filter) with rubber hose clipped each side.
Can anyone please confirm what this is, and that it shouldn't be connected to anything?
I have counted 3 breathers on the right hand side of the bike, is this a fourth?.
Thanks in advance
Dave ;D

It's a colostomy bag attachment mate. Route it to the right or left of the bike according to which way sir dresses.

Dave do you have a scottoiler fitted. I think these have a suction pipe fitted to the top of carb and going back to the oiler Mine is fitted on the left side. Just a thought. Keith

Dave,
Why don't you get someone who has the same bike as yours to lay on the floor and get covered in muck trying to find out for you?
I'd never do anything like this of course.
PS - no picture of the relevant area in Haynes.

Yes it`s in the correct place and yes it`s a breather/drain pipe. Leave it alone its doing fine without any help from you Dave.

Leave it alone its doing fine without any help from you Dave. Damn it, Paul - When he rang me yesterday (whilst I was parked-up waiting for some chap on a 'HondaMatic' type FJR to catch up with me!) I assured him it was an emergency syphon tube for in case he ran out of fuel. I told him he should bung up the end to keep water out ;D

I should imagine it's a one-way valve of some kind mate. Allows the carp out but no bad stuff in.
