Can anyone tell me if the fuel pump on my 1999 600s should run as soon as you turn on the ignition? I am talking about the bike having lain overnight or after a day or so. At the moment it starts first time on full choke then dies, then I here the pump running. Press the starter again and away she goes. Are the fuel pumps quite reliable? How easy is it to flood the engine when using the choke on these 600,s ?

The fuel pump sounds like it's working correctly. It doesn't come on with the ignition (unless like me you've added an elec pump to a vacuum pump model - pre-96) and you'll hear it running when the bike doesn't start. I've never flooded the carbs on the Divvy.
