Hi folks,
My D600 has a 4-1 exhaust with a local grown can (a Pulsar, portuguese company that has since gone bust), which has blown out all it packing.
I was wondering if anyone has attempted to do a repack. Out here bike shops and garages don't stock any repack kits cause they always want to make you buy a new can.
Someone told me to repack it with wire wool...
Any thoughts anyone?

Try these people. www.rzt.deThey do tuning gear for MZs including spannies so they should have the correct packing material. I once tried wire wool in a stroker expansion chamber muffler, but it doesn't work and the wire blows out.

AHA! thanks guys...
In the meantime I've bought some wire wool and some rock wool and am going to try to re-pack with that... I can't wait for the stuff to be sent cause the can at the moment is only that a hollow can and I wake the neighbors every time I get home! Not Kool!! I keep getting funny looks from everyone!
I'll post what the results are like when I've finished!

OK it is done!
Opened up the can found one of the baffles had broken... and the previous owner had obviously taken ALL the packing out!...
So first wrapped the core with 000 wire wool then split some rock wool roof insulation so as to make it not so thick and hence make it more flexible. wrapped two layers of that around the wire wool re positioned the baffle properly and fitted it back together.
Results ? now I can hear the engine instead of just the exhaust.
the engine runs smoother, the acceleration is no longer rough, and she stalls much less.
Anyway hope the filling last a while!
All the best
Andy

You can use stainless wire wool for a permanent solution.......
