Hiya all. Bought a divvy 900 off ebay. Now the seller seems very genuine and friendly and has declared scratches and crack in fairing but can the experienced eyes of the group see anything else? I am in Dublin and have to go and collect in it the UK on Friday so any comments or observations would be VERY welcome. I appreciate the photos are not really close ups but any comments or even tips on problems for this year of bike would be great. Thanks in advance Here is the link cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=014&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=330105168432&rd=1&rd=1Jeff

Sounds like a genuine seller and a genuine bike Assuming that the mileage is also genuine, and he says he has evidence, there should be no major issues with the motor - they go to far greater mileages than this one Haynes manual and front fender extender point to a reasonably careful owner Usual stuff about e-bay - check his feedback, check the paper work and cross check the engine and chasis numbers - if it doesn't match up then walk away I guess it would be prudent to tackle the cosmetic items whilst the bike is new to you and before the enthusiasm diminishes, if only to stop further deterioration The plastics can be welded and re-sprayed or being ABS, you could simply solvent cement weld a brace onto the back of the crack Wheels and swing arm can be re-painted His description covers many of the points you'd check anyway, so assuming he hasn't lied it should be OK HTH Roger

As poolboy said but you have chossen wisely as the green version is the faster of all the divies whether they are 600 or 900.
I am sure some of the northerns will meet up with you if you so wish just to ride along with you on your way back.
I have the same colour myself and found a near perfect match for touch up paint in halfords being vauxhall nautilus so a small touch up pack for this minor scratches will be easy to hide.
Have a safe journey and I hope everything works out for you.
Also take him up on the baglux tank cover and bag its worth having

The fairing is made from ABS plastic. I recently repaired a broken side lug on my 900 with solvent weld cement. I used the gap filling version which sets harder than the clear stuff.
If you are careful you can probably squeeze some cement into the crack edges, but its impossible to clean the crack faces so it probably wont stick/weld perfectly. Its fiddly and you risk getting glue on the paint so be careful.
To do a stronger job, I would grind away 1/2 of the thickness (with a Dremmel tool) on the inside to make a channel to take the cement. Then apply the stuff in layers. Dont add too much or you risk distorting the front surface of the plastic. When the groove is full its worth adding a plastic "plate" over the back to further support the crack. But do check there will be enough space for the steel subframe.
If you ever have the fairing repainted you can then grind out the top half of the crack and fill it properly.
A new fairing plastic painted in the correct colour is about £400 from Yamaha. A new fully painted front mudguard with internal brace is a more reasonable £50.
