Hi all
Newbie here and have a couple of questions.
It has been recommended to me to fit a fenda extenda and would prefer one with the Yamaha name on it, but am not keen on having to drill thru' the existing 'guard and suggestions.
Engine bars, which?
Higher screen, skidmarx perhaps etc etc
Cheers
Paul

but am not keen on having to drill thru' the existing 'guard ............ if you put your trust just in double-sided tape or glue alone - I suspect it'll end in tears. I'd drill, relying on tape or glue purely to hold it whilst I put bolts or self-tappers in!

Screen. Try the MRA with adjustable spoiler, but dont buy until you try. I found the one for the 900 caused headache inducing turbulence until I fitted linger front struts. I also think the mirrors cause turbulence especially in crosswinds, so I use Stadium style bar enders.
I like the Yamaha engine bars - simple loop with no ugly brace across the engine. No-one makes crash bungs for Divvies, so the fairing is totally unprotected and I can't work out a way to fit bungs that would not bend the frame.
I had a genuine Fenda Extenda but drilling the mudguard wasn't optional wind pressure, etc would have ripped it off. Try Ebay. I think £20 is a lot for a simple blow moulding.

Yeah, right Martin. I fitted one a couple of weeks ago to my Fazer 6. Drilling the mudguard is not a problem. Put some tape, Gaffa Tape or even masking tape over where you intend to drill. Offer up the extenda, mark it up, drill the holes (the tape will prevent the drill bit from wandering) and you're done! ;D As this is my 200th post I thought it was going to take me off of the 'Harley Rider' thing. It has'nt.....moan, moan, whinge, whinge!

im sure you could just glue the fender extender on, i would use a chemical metal type glue, suspect it wont come off then ;D

Chemical metal is great on metal. That American stuff (sorry forgot the name) is fantastic, but on plastic not so sure.
The Divvie fairing is made from ABS so the mudguard most likely also ABS. If the extenda is ABS or uPVC it could possibly be glued on with rigid ABS plumbing (waste pipe) gap filling cement. I used the stuff to repair a broken mounting lug & it seems fine after 500 miles & 2 weeks. You would need to remove the mudguard and find a way to clamp it while the glue sets.
If the Extenda is polypropylene (PP) dont bother. Nothing sticks to that stuff.

On my first extenda I used the adhesive tape and hot glue gun. Stuck really well, then it fell off after I'd boasted about how well it had done!
Now on my second one and this has the double sided adhesive and Araldite..... I won't say anymore just in case.....

I've now fitted two of these extenda's, to seperate bikes I have to say.
Glue it on with the double sided sticky tape, drill some small pilot holes and then fire in the self tappers. That way you won't be sorry.
It's much less agg if you take the wheel off 1st.

JB weld! That's the stuff "better than baler twine" it says on the box so must be good I've found it brilliant on metal like broken casting lugs, but like other epoxys its always fallen off plastic. My brother repaired a broken cast aluminium instrument carrier ring from his MZ 250. Many years later it was still perfect. He only replaced the part because he got a spare silly cheap. Solvent cements will do the trick if both plastics are affected by solvents. But if it ever needs to come off it will have to be cut away. I personally think the self tappers look ok so would do as Pooh(c) says and screw it on.
